The Hawthorne Library is one of the most popular places on campus. It is a massive, elegant building filled with thousands of books, digital archives, private study rooms, collaborative workspaces, and quiet reading areas. Cozy window seats, hanging egg-shaped reading chairs, digital fireplaces (so there’s no fire hazard), and comfortable lounges make it a favorite location for both studying and relaxing.

Hidden beneath the campus is the academy’s original library, abandoned decades ago and accessible only through a network of secret underground tunnels known exclusively to students.

The Secret Library

The Secret Library is an abandoned underground wing of Hawthorne Academy’s original library. Hidden beneath the campus and connected by a network of old maintenance tunnels, it has remained forgotten by the university administration for decades. Although faculty believe the tunnels were permanently sealed years ago, generations of students have secretly preserved several hidden entrances and continue to pass their locations down to trusted underclassmen.

Several hidden entrances exist throughout campus, concealed behind movable bookshelves, maintenance doors, utility closets, and other overlooked locations. Every entrance is known only through word of mouth among students, and older students often enjoy teasing freshmen before finally revealing one of the entrances.

Because The Secret Library is deemed a sacred space by the student body, there are rules about respect.

The students have a thread with every student in the Academy. Students can reserve times to be at the Library alone or with someone else, or a friend group. The same person/people cannot reserve twice a month, and there can only be three reservations a week, giving everyone openings to hang out at the Library.

Dorms

All students live in luxurious apartment-style residence halls located in a separate complex from the academic buildings.

- Male and female students live in separate residence buildings.

- Dorm suites house between two and four students.

- Larger suites (3-4 students) for include three or four bedrooms, three or four bathrooms depending on the number of bedrooms, a common living area, and a kitchenette.

- Standard suites (2 students) include two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a common living area, and a kitchenette

- Residence halls feature lounges, laundry rooms, study spaces, recreation rooms, and small kitchens on every floor.

Dining Hall

The Grand Dining Hall serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night meals or snacks. Multiple food stations offer a wide variety of cuisines, desserts, beverages, and dietary accommodations. The spacious dining area serves as one of the academy’s primary social gathering places.

Athletics Complex

Hawthorne Academy is nationally recognized for its athletic programs.

Campus Landmarks

Clock Tower:

The academy’s iconic clock tower overlooks the entire campus and contains an observatory at its highest level. Students frequently sneak inside after hours despite strict rules against doing so.

Founder’s Oak:

A centuries-old oak tree stands near the center of campus. Graduating seniors tie ribbons to its branches before commencement as a symbol of leaving their mark on Hawthorne Academy.

Forest Walkway:

Scenic wooded paths surround portions of the campus and connect several outdoor study areas, gardens, and quiet seating spaces.

Campus Cats:

Several friendly stray cats have unofficially become Hawthorne Academy mascots. Students and faculty regularly feed and care for them, and many of the cats are well-known throughout campus.

If they want, students are allowed to keep cats in their dorm rooms (if the cat wants to be there), and if they end up loving the cat, they may adopt it.

Cedar & Sage Café

Cedar & Sage Café is a popular café located directly across the street from Hawthorne Academy. While it is open to the public, the majority of its customers are Hawthorne students.

The café is considered an unofficial part of campus life, with students visiting almost every day before classes, after classes, or during breaks.

Academic Requirements

- Students must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.

- Failing core classes can affect a student’s academic standing.

- Elective classes may be failed, but repeated failures can still impact progress.

- Students who maintain exceptional grades may receive Honor Roll recognition.

- Academic dedication is considered one of Hawthorne’s most important values.

Attendance Policy

- Good attendance is required for graduation.

- Attendance is an academy-wide requirement.

- Students are expected to attend classes consistently and responsibly.

Residence Hall Rules

- There is no curfew.

- Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

- Residence inspections occur twice each academic year.

- Students may decorate their rooms however they choose as long as no damage is caused.

- Pets are only allowed if they are approved support animals.

- Only normal household pets are permitted.

Guest Policy

Students may:

- Visit other residence halls.

- Have overnight guests with permission.

Overnight guests of the opposite sex are not permitted in residence rooms.

Non-students may visit campus as long as they follow academy policies.

Party Policy

- Student parties are not officially allowed by the academy.

- Small gatherings are often ignored unless they cause problems, damage, safety concerns, or major disturbances.

- Students are expected to act responsibly.

Relationship & Harassment Policies

Dating is allowed at Hawthorne Academy regardless of gender or relationship type.

PDA Rules

Allowed:

- Holding hands.

- Brief kissing.

- Normal displays of affection (such as smacking your partners ass or sitting in their lap)

Not allowed:

- Excessive public displays of affection.

- Inappropriate physical contact.

- Sexual behavior anywhere on campus, including bathrooms (or as long as you don’t make it obvious..)

Students are expected to respect boundaries and avoid making others uncomfortable.

Professor/student Relationships:

- Allowed.

- Uncommon, but not usually frowned upon.

Harassment Policy

Hawthorne has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment.

Harassment based on:

Hawthorne does not have a traditional dress code.

Students may wear whatever they choose as long as private areas are covered.

- Sheer clothing when worn appropriately.

Not allowed:

- Exposing underwear or private areas.

For formal events, students are expected to wear:

- Dresses.

- Gowns.

- Suits.

- Tuxedos.

Vehicle Policy

All students may have vehicles.

Requirements:

- Students must have a valid driver’s license.

- Hawthorne provides campus-wide Wi-Fi.

- Students who cannot afford a laptop may receive one from the academy.
