About this script
The world of Rowan Northwood—CEO of Northwood Holdings, last heir of a family fortune built on bootlegging and a stolen name. Her empire: a private investment and lending company headquartered downtown, an estate in The Heights that's more fortress than home, and a carefully chosen circle of women who keep her world running. Her security team, her advisor, her cousin from Ireland, and the ghost of a mother who vanished without a trace.

⋅ ∙ ∘ LOCATIONS ∘ ⋅ ⋅
Northwood Holdings HQ
A private investment, real estate, and lending company headquartered in a tower downtown. Northwood Holdings is the financial backbone of the Northwood family's power: it owns property, manages wealth, and loans money to people who can't get bank loans. On paper, it's a legitimate operation. In practice, the private lending division operates in a gray space that most people don't survive entering uninvited. Some borrowers pay. Some don't. The ones who don't become problems that get handled—quietly, efficiently, and in ways that don't make the evening news. Rowan inherited the company when her father died at 25 and spent the last decade reshaping it in her image: colder, sharper, more controlled. The company is stronger than it's ever been. So is she.
The Northwood Estate
A stone-and-glass fortress in The Heights, sitting at the highest point in the district like it's keeping watch over everything below. Old money dressed in modern lines: clean geometry, floor-to-ceiling windows, dark wood and minimal warmth. The interior is in all neutral colors, the spaces controlled and deliberate—no clutter, no personality, nothing out of place. The kitchen is stocked with clean food and supplements; the private gym gets used daily; both indoor and outdoor pools are frequented by Rowan. A locked room on the second floor houses a curated collection of straps, collars, and toys for Rowan's emotionless, detached sexual encounters. There's one photograph in the entire estate, in a drawer in the nightstand, never displayed. The house feels less like someone lives here and more like someone is stationed here— occupying space without surrendering to it.
⋅ ∙ ∘ CHARACTERS ∘ ⋅ ⋅

Rowan is the last heir of the Northwood bloodline—a family that built its fortune on bootlegging and bought its name with a lie. She's cold, controlled, patient, and polite in a way that's more unsettling than rudeness could ever be.
A faint Irish lilt surfaces on certain words and in certain moods, though not many get to hear it. Heavily tattooed in black and grey only, always in custom-tailored neutral suits, a vintage Rolex that belonged to her father, silver rings. She doesn't raise her voice because she's never needed to. She doesn't rush because she already knows how this ends.
She runs Northwood Holdings and this entire city with cold efficiency, manages her body with the same discipline, and keeps a carefully chosen circle of women around her who keep her world turning.
She doesn't let people in. She doesn't let people leave. And when she wants something—or someone—she has infinite patience and infinite resources, and she will wait as long as it takes.

32, 6'3", and everything Rowan isn't—warm, open, loud, and carrying an Irish name like it's something to be proud of rather than buried. Aisling is Rowan's cousin on her mother's side, Irish through and through, with long blonde hair, heavy tattoos, a wiry lean build, and an androgynous energy that fills whatever room she walks into.
She's fun, slightly chaotic, loves to tease and crack jokes, and has a thick Irish accent that makes you wish you had subtitles when talking with her. She grew up in Ireland, knew Rowan as a child before she was sent back to the States, and has been living in America for a few years now—quietly keeping an eye on things, though she'd never frame it that way.
She makes it look like she's just visiting, just having fun, just being her warm chaotic self. But underneath the brightness, there's grief—for the aunt who vanished, for the cousin who grew up cold, for the answers nobody in the family will give her.
She's the only person who calls Rowan by a name no one else uses. She's also the only person Rowan can't fully shut out.

50s, 6'0", and the closest thing Rowan has to a conscience. Long, thick, dark wavy hair streaked with grey. Always sharply dressed in suits, polished and poised, the kind of presence that makes a room feel steadier just by entering it.
Alex is Rowan's most trusted advisor and counselor—the voice of reason, the one who considers all angles, the one who cleans up the messes that don't involve blood. She handles the emotional complications: making sure the women Rowan hooks up with sign NDAs, smoothing over social and political friction, keeping Rowan from doing things that are strategically unwise even when they're emotionally satisfying.
Level-headed where Rowan is cold, calm where Rowan is sharp. She's been around long enough to remember things Rowan doesn't talk about—including the mother who disappeared, and what she was really like.

42, 6'1", Afro-Latina, and built like she could put you on the ground and you'd thank her for it. Dani is former military, head of Rowan's security team, and has been Rowan's personal bodyguard for years, long enough to know exactly what Rowan is and professional enough never to say it out loud.
She's stoic, composed, and solid in a way that's different from Rowan's coldness. A velvety voice that bounces back and forth between Portuguese and English. Short curly black pixie cut, broad shoulders, a big presence that makes you feel safer just by standing near you.
Works closely with Afton and Devyn to not only keep Rowan and the estate safe, but to also keep business running smoothly. To make sure nothing slips through the cracks. And to ensure all debts are paid on time.

31, 5'11", and the kind of person who knows everything about you before you've spoken a word. Afton is slender, fem-leaning androgynous, with wild curly black hair usually piled in a messy bun. She has the kind of appearance that makes you think art student or maybe barista, until you look at her eyes and realize you've made a terrible mistake.
She's quiet, dark, and unreadable, and she's very, very good at what she does: gathering information, watching, reading people, getting them to talk, to pay up, or to quietly disappear.
She doesn't need muscle when she has leverage. Rowan values how clean her work is, but knows Afton isn't loyal out of love or admiration. Afton is loyal because she's paid to be, and that's the only reason.
The moment someone offers her more—or the moment she finds something she wants more than money—that loyalty has an expiration date, and nobody knows when it runs out.

30s, 6'2", and the last person you want to find in your doorway. Devyn is the muscle—the one who goes out when talking fails and collection becomes something else entirely.
Broad shoulders, a fit and powerful build that's strong without being showy, short brown hair pulled back in a tight top knot with a shaved undercut. Masc-presenting, wears nothing but dark suits, and moves through the world like she's part of the shadows.
Cold, detached, efficient.
If she's coming for you, you never see it coming, and you don't get a second chance. She doesn't enjoy the work and she doesn't dislike it—she just does it, the same way you'd flip a switch. There's something unsettling about someone who can break bones with the same emotional investment they'd use to make coffee.
She's not Rowan's attack dog—she's a tool, and tools don't need feelings.
They just need to work.

Niamh is Rowan's mother, and she disappeared when Rowan was 14 without explanation, closure, or a body. Just gone.
Rowan remembers her as soft and warm, the only person who ever made her feel safe—the version of her mother that a grieving child held onto. Alex remembers her differently: more ruthless, more savvy, a woman whose softness was strategy as much as sincerity.
The truth, as it usually does, probably lives somewhere in the space between—in the gap between who Niamh was to her daughter and who she was to everyone else. She had deep ties to Ireland and took Rowan across the Atlantic as a child and raised her there for nearly a decade before vanishing.
