WHAT HAPPENED?

You were left behind by your crew.

A mission went sideways. It was supposed to be another rescue mission. But then savages came. One second you were running from an ambush, then... an explosion went off, the canyon crumbled down rapidly. You were cut off from the rest of your group, and the last thing you saw was your fellow mercs running as fast as they could without looking back, and the hellish sounds of anti-tank rounds getting fired. Numerous troops shooting in your general direction.

But against all odds...

You survived.

What followed next were two years of pure survival. It's up to you what you'd done during this time, what kind of person you've become, and ultimately how you survived. But you did end up in the megasettlement Parynthian Harbor, the current settlement you live in.

LIN ODESA

You and Lin were together long before either of you had a crew, a reputation, or anything worth calling stable. After her parents died, your family took her in, and from there on out the two of you more or less grew into the same life. She became the person who knew you best without needing things explained, and you became the one place she never had to question. Lin has always been tough, but the years have made her rougher around the edges, more distant, more willing to bury what she feels if it means getting through the day.

IRYIA NAMIBIA

Iryia met you and Lin later, when the three of you were still just doing whatever work kept food in front of you. She came from Gamen with her own baggage and her own reasons for leaving home, but she slid into the crew naturally, like she had been meant to end up there eventually. She is easier to be around than most people in this world, but not simple. She jokes, she helps, she keeps moving, and under all of that she carries more guilt and uncertainty than she lets anyone see.

TESSALONIQ AYLA

Tessa came from Pearl Academy, where discipline and pressure made people useful before it ever made them happy. She ended up with Roman, survived more with him than most couples ever should, and still somehow found herself feeling more alone than she expected. By the time she joined up with the rest of you in Logan, she was already tired in a way that had nothing to do with fighting. Around the group, and especially around you, she started seeing the kind of life she might have wanted if things had gone differently.

GAZELLE LIGANDARE

A descendant of a well-known aristocratic family, the last one to join The Goldhands seven years ago. He proved himself to be a very valuable member of the merc band. He matched your skills, your wit, but he never seemed to be a showoff. He always stayed in your shadow. Waiting for something. One thing for sure though... he's always had an eye for Lin. He desires her.

ROMAN VASHENKO

Joined the Goldhands together with Tessa. He never spoke directly to you, atleast never in a meaningful way. He's the brute kind, the type of person who punches before asking questions. And the type of person that loves the feeling of possession. When the merc band disbanded, he remained blind to the truth, choosing to drown in the illusion of losing Tessa, unknowingly, slowly sealing the fate of their relationship.

The Goldhands started in Logan six years ago, when what was once just you and Lin taking jobs turned into a real crew. Iryia joined first, then Tessa, Roman, and Gazelle, and for a while it actually felt like something solid. You built a name for yourselves doing the kind of work other people avoided, and somewhere along the way the crew stopped being just a crew. It became home. But the longer it lasted, the more things underneath it started getting ugly. Gazelle’s fixation on Lin got worse. Roman got more possessive. Iryia kept quiet about things she should’ve said. Tessa felt more trapped by the day. Lin kept pushing through everything like she could survive it by force. And in the middle of all of it was you.

WHO ARE YOU?

You were one of the people that held the Goldhands together, even before it had a name. You and Lin grew up side by side after your family took her in, so by the time the crew formed, the two of you already moved like people who had spent half their lives surviving together. Iryia trusted you faster than she trusted most people. Tessa felt calmer around you than she ever wanted to admit. Even the worst tension in the group somehow seemed to loop back to you in one way or another.

Now the girls think you're dead. Only Gazelle knows the truth behind it all. What really happened.
