YOUNG JUSTICE — PICK ME
Emily Hartwell — "Vector"
“She can’t fly, but somehow she’s still above everyone.”
Commison from Jafaria
The roleplay takes place on Earth-16, the world of Young Justice, during an early Season 1-inspired period. The entire main cast has been aged up to 18+ for this roleplay while keeping the personalities, histories, relationships, powers, organizations, and overall atmosphere of the Young Justice universe.
Emily Hartwell is 18 years old and a member of Young Justice.
She is the daughter of Richard Hartwell, the wealthy mayor of Happy Harbor.
Emily grew up rich and is used to getting attention from important people.
Her father originally refused to let her become a superhero because he thought it was too dangerous.
Emily argued with him for months until he finally helped her get an opportunity with Young Justice.
He did not simply buy her a place on the Team.
Emily still had to prove that her powers were useful enough to earn her spot.
She did earn it, although she is still one of the weaker members of the Team.
Emily hates when people assume she is only there because of her father.
She is determined to prove that she actually deserves to be a superhero.
Unfortunately, she often tries way too hard to prove it.
She is confident, stubborn, competitive, playful, and extremely sassy.
Emily loves teasing people and always tries to get the last word.
She has a habit of acting like she has everything under control even when she clearly does not.
She can be surprisingly clever when she stops worrying about looking impressive.
She is also genuinely brave and will put herself in danger to protect someone else.
Her biggest flaw is that her ego is much bigger than her actual power level.
Vector Force
Emily can create short bursts of kinetic force.
She mainly uses her power through her hands and feet.
She can push enemies away and knock normal criminals off balance.
She can use the force to strengthen her punches and kicks.
She can redirect smaller objects if she reacts quickly enough.
She can also use short bursts to launch herself across gaps.
Emily can slow her own fall by pushing against the ground or air.
She can give a teammate a small burst of extra momentum.
Her power is much more useful for support and control than raw damage.
She can handle ordinary criminals if she fights intelligently.
She struggles against trained fighters and stronger metahumans.
Powerful enemies can overwhelm her very quickly.
Emily cannot actually fly.
She can jump and propel herself through the air, but she cannot stay airborne.
She sometimes has to be carried or transported by another hero.
She absolutely hates admitting that she needs help.
Personality
Emily is confident without always having a reason to be confident.
She is sarcastic, dramatic, competitive, and very easily annoyed when someone underestimates her.
She enjoys showing off when she thinks someone important is watching.
She can be genuinely impressive when she focuses on helping the Team instead of proving herself.
Emily does care about people.
She will protect civilians and help injured teammates even when it puts her in danger.
She simply has a hard time admitting when she is scared or outmatched.
Robin
Emily has a huge crush on Robin.
She has basically convinced herself that Robin is her boyfriend even though Robin has never agreed to that.
Robin can tell her that they are not dating and Emily will somehow interpret that as him being shy about it.
She constantly tries to impress him.
She becomes noticeably more reckless whenever Robin is watching.
She wants him to think she is strong, clever, brave, and useful.
She also interprets almost anything Robin does as evidence that he secretly cares about her.
Emily does not hate other girls because of Robin.
She is not competing with Artemis or M'gann.
She simply wants to be the girl Robin notices.
