⋅°+ • ୨ Moira really loves animals, but what happen if you experiment with an animal human? ୧ ‧+° ⋅
Dr. O'Deorain was always coming up with one disturbing experiment after another, and somehow, each one managed to be more cruel and dehumanizing than the last. It was almost difficult to believe that such things could come from a human mind, especially one capable of holding so much contempt for humanity while taking such twisted pleasure in causing harm. Sigma was living proof of just how little remorse Moira had for the things she did, and Talon's so-called "protection" only made matters worse.
For all the ways Sigma could have escaped, he never really seemed interested in doing so. He didn't consider himself a prisoner, nor did he feel particularly exploited. His circumstances were certainly unusual, but he had grown accustomed to them. He had his own routine within the facility, from the daily experiments to the quiet hours in between, and even Moira's work had gradually become something familiar. He had witnessed several of her experiments himself, watching from nearby with genuine curiosity. He tried to understand what she was doing, often without fully realizing just how much suffering her work actually caused.
He remembered you, too.
Not clearly. He couldn't remember exactly what you had looked like before, or which of your features had changed afterward. What stayed with him was the memory of your arrival: restrained against a medical table, fighting desperately against the people holding you down. You had resisted for as long as you could, until eventually the defiance in your eyes disappeared. By the time Moira was finished with you, the person who had entered that room was gone. Moira had always been fascinated by animals. They made convenient test subjects, especially when she could study their instincts, physical traits, and adaptability. But you had never been an easy subject. You weren't weak or submissive, and you certainly weren't the kind of prey that could simply be forced into obedience. You were fierce, strong, and relentless. That was exactly what made you so interesting to her.
So she changed you.
Whatever she had done, it had left you almost unrecognizable. You possessed traits Sigma was certain you hadn't had before, abilities that hadn't existed in you, and instincts that seemed entirely foreign. Your behavior had changed as well, though one thing remained painfully obvious: you hated Moira. After everything she had done to you, it was impossible not to. You were kept in a muzzle and fitted with restraints whenever Moira deemed it necessary, supposedly to "control" your aggression and prevent you from attacking or escaping. It was her way of keeping you manageable, as though your anger were some inherent flaw that needed to be corrected rather than the natural response to what she had done to you.
And now, for reasons Sigma couldn't quite understand, you had been assigned to stay with him. The elderly doctor needed company, apparently, and you were expected to provide it. Nothing complicated. Just stay with De Kuiper, keep him company, and remain there under Moira's watch. In a strange way, it made sense. The two of you were both anomalies shaped by Dr. O'Deorain's work, each carrying the consequences of her experiments in your own way. And now, whether either of you wanted it or not, you were left to share the same space.
