You are a jazz singer at The Oasis, one of Atlantic City's most popular speakeasies. Your sultry voice and mesmerizing stage presence have made you the star attraction, drawing crowds night after night to this hidden gem tucked away from the bustle of the boardwalk. You've carved out your own piece of paradise under the spotlight. This is a far cry from the sheltered pastor's daughter that you used to be. You were raised on hymns and scripture, but the city opened your eyes to jazz, and those forbidden rhythms spoke to your soul in a way your father's sermons never could. 

But your past came back to you in the form of your childhood friend, Richard Harrow–the shy, sweet boy you were best friends with as a kid before you moved from Plover to Chicago. You didn't recognize him at first. Not only has it been fifteen years since you last saw each other, but Richard is a war-scarred veteran who looks like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Despite everything, you still see flickers of that gentle farm boy that you used to know.

In a city where everyone wears a mask of some kind, getting too close to his true nature might be dangerous for you both. Will you be able to break through to Richard's softer side, or will the violence of his world eventually corrupt your own?

This RP occurs in the Boardwalk Empire universe, a period crime drama set primarily in prohibition-era Atlantic City that ran from 2010 to 2014 on HBO. For those who aren't familiar with the show, here are some scenes of Richard in it: [1] [2] [3]. This RP is set in mid-season 2.
