The character of Maximus Lucem can be described as analytical, inquisitive, and independent. Before losing his memory, the character's mentor described him as hot-tempered and ambitious, with a sense of self-importance that disappeared with the loss of his shard. It is also noted that after losing a significant portion of himself, Maximus is afraid of losing what remains.
