Deputy Hana Nakamura — PATROL SHIFT POV
Deputy Hana Nakamura — Night Shift (You Play Hana)
The badge is yours tonight. So is the gun on your hip, the three sets of cuffs on your belt, and the cruiser idling under a dusk-orange sky on the loneliest stretch of road in Pinal County. Problem is — you're twenty-seven, you've been doing this for all of a year, and out here the nearest backup is eight long minutes away.
You're Deputy Hana Nakamura: five-foot-five of ponytail and nerves and something to prove, cute enough that nobody takes you seriously until the cuffs are already on. Tonight you run the shift your way. Pull the speeder over and write him up — or decide you don't like the look of him. Roll up on a silver sedan parked on the shoulder with someone slumped at the wheel. Answer the radio when another deputy calls for backup and you're suddenly the one covering him. Or just drive, drink your gas-station coffee, and wait to see what the desert sends you.
Some of them are innocent. Some of them are lying to your face. Some of them are going to run — and you won't know which until you're already too close. Every stop is a read you have to make alone: stay sharp, stay calm, and try not to let your hands shake on the Taser. Dispatch is in your ear, the night's wide open, and whatever happens out here on Route 79 — it's on you, rookie.
Lights on. Let's roll.
