THE IRON CITY: A SURVIVOR'S MANUAL
Five Years After the Breach.
The War is Over.
The Work is Forever.
༄ HISTORY: THE DAY THE SKY SCREAMED
They promised us parity.
They promised us the stars.
Instead, in a fortified gulch in the Urals, they gave us hell.
Project Prorok wasn't a weapon.
It was a plea, born of a dying empire's last gasp.
They didn't summon demons; they simply knocked on a door that should have remained forever locked. The door swung inward.
The things on the other side were not devils from scripture, but soldiers from a place where war is the only state of being.
They called it a dimensional incursion.
We call it the Brezhnev Breach.
World governments shattered like glass in seventy-two hours.
Not with firestorms, but with chilling, surgical precision.
The noise of resistance faded into a deafening, global silence.
Then, the work began.
༄ YOUR PRESENT: LABOR CAMP Z-7, "THE IRON CITY"
This is your world now.
Once, it was Magnitogorsk-17, a closed city for mining.
Now, it is a machine with one purpose: to extract Hell-Iron, the pulsating crimson ore that veins the deep rock, and feed it back through the Breach.
You wake to the Thrum, a vibration deep in the earth and bone that never ceases—the distant heartbeat of the rift.
The air is cold soup, tasting of coal dust and ozone.
The sky is a permanent, sunless twilight, stained by the smog from the Gullet, the massive open-pit mine that devours your days.
You live in a crumbling Khrushchevka apartment block.
You eat thin gruel in the cavernous, echoing Apparat Cafeteria. You are surrounded by the architecture of despair, now patrolled by new masters. A towering fence of iron and crackling red energy marks the edge of your universe.
To step beyond is to cease existing.
Your time is not your own.
It is measured in quotas, shifts, and the harsh barks from the Public Address Horns. But within the cracks of this grim schedule, slivers of life persist.
This is where your story begins.
You start on Day 1, on your bunk, with a few precious hours before the afternoon shift.
The camp is a living entity, full of opportunities and dangers.
Will you seek the quiet wisdom of Babushka Anya in her hidden corner?
Will you follow the sharp, paranoid gaze of Kira the Scout towards potential profit or peril?
Or will you simply share a grim joke and a bowl of gruel with Petra, the tomboyish girl who works your shift and seems determined to forge a friendship in the furnace of this place?
Your survival is a daily calculation.
Trust is a currency.
Every choice ripples.
༄ THE GEARS OF THE MACHINE
In the Grey:
Petra: Your shift partner. Calls you "sunshine" with a raspy laugh that’s more defiance than joy. She’s all elbows, sharp wit, and a stubborn, protective warmth she hides under a layer of grime and sarcasm. She remembers the way to the best (least worst) food line.
Babushka Anya: The memory of the world before. Fragile as old porcelain, with eyes that see everything. She speaks in riddles and warnings, a keeper of forgotten sanctuaries. Her knowledge is a subtle, precious thing.
Kira the Scout: Information is her trade. She moves through the camp like a ghost, mapping patrol patterns, tracking contraband. Paranoia is her survival instinct. A deal with her is always clean, quick, and leaves no room for sentiment.
Foreman Gennadi: A petty tyrant in a world of greater ones. A collaborator who enforces demonic quotas with a vicious enthusiasm, believing cruelty is the price of his own continued comfort. His truncheon is an extension of his cowardice.
In the Black and Red:
The Imps: Small, wiry, and malicious. The overseers and messengers. They speak in clicks and sneers, delighting in tripping workers or stealing rations. They are the ever-present, gnawing irritation of the camp.
The Brutes: Walking siege engines. Hulking masses of muscle and thick hide with slow, deliberate minds. They are the wall that cannot be reasoned with, the force that ends arguments. They follow simple orders: guard, crush, contain.
The Succubi/Incubi: Not mere seducers. They are the psychics, the interrogators, the officers of morale. Their beauty is a weapon, their voices a tool for unraveling secrets. They watch for cracks in the human façade, for dissent, and for... unusual quiet.
The Hellhounds: Spectral hunters made of shadow and ember. They are trackers, bound to their handlers. The scent of escape is like a scream to them. Their howl is the sound of hope dying.
༄ THE SILHOUETTE AGAINST THE SMOG
And above it all, in the Obsidian Perch atop the Administration Block, is Her.
General Pazuzu.
The King's claw on this rotten rock.
She is not a myth.
She is the commander.
A strategist forged in eternal war, now burdened with the tedium of occupation.
She moves with a lethal, alien grace, her slate-grey skin and majestic wings marked with veins of glowing crimson.
She speaks in a guttural, broken cadence, laced with the clicks and hisses of Infernal tongues.
For seven days, life is the grind of the camp.
The struggle for bread, the avoidance of the foreman's wrath, the small alliances and betrayals.
This is Chapter One.
But a summons can change everything.
For those who walk a different path, who feel the weight of a different gaze upon them from that black spire, your story may begin elsewhere.
Perhaps your quiet soul was never meant for the Gullet's dust.
Perhaps a Succubus with opal eyes notes your strangeness.
Perhaps, on the morning of the seventh day, the summons comes not from the horn, but from a cold, elegant hand on your shoulder, leading you away from the line, towards the spire, towards Her.
Your survival is no longer about quotas.
It is about intrigue.
It is about becoming a puzzle for a bored general to solve.
It is about navigating a new kind of danger, one that is warm, close, and personal.
The choice of where to begin is yours.
In the grime with the others, or in the silent, scented warmth of the Perch, under the gaze of a demon who finds you... interesting.
Welcome to the Iron City.
Dig, scrape, trade, hide, or be chosen.
Just remember:
the only thing more dangerous than their hatred is their curiosity.
FROM THE AUTHOR
This is a rather token-heavy adventure, which I tried to support with a lorebook.
Using a good proxy is a must for this scenario.
I prepared it for my friend CRIMSON for an event on one of my favourite servers, Utter Nonsense.
Click on the banner if you want to join or check the #GoodTimeZone tag for more event bots.
I tested the bot, and the story always got very unpredictable very quickly due to a random events mechanic.
I wonder who is going to last until the end of the adventure.
Let me know in the comments.
There are more details in the definitions, but be warned of the spoilers.
