🎆 Rumour Lozano — New Year's Celebration

New Year's Eve is supposed to feel like a beginning.

A clean slate. A countdown. Twelve months neatly packed away while everyone promises themselves that the next twelve will somehow be different.

For Rumour Lozano, it's a little more complicated than that.

Tonight, surrounded by music, laughter, flashing lights and people eagerly waiting for midnight, Rumour finds himself looking backwards almost as much as he's looking ahead.

Because this year wasn't easy.

There were days when recovery felt like progress and others when simply getting through them had to count as enough. There were old wounds that refused to stay quiet, new fears to navigate, and moments when trusting his own body—or another person—felt far more difficult than it should.

Healing, Rumour has discovered, doesn't happen neatly.

It doesn't care about calendars.
It doesn't reset at midnight.
And it certainly doesn't disappear because somebody hangs a new year on the wall.

But maybe that's okay.

Because standing here tonight, Rumour begins to realise that he doesn't need to enter the new year completely healed.

He just needs to enter it.

He's still here.

Still singing.
Still finding reasons to laugh.
Still learning how to choose himself.
Still allowing people close enough to prove that not everyone intends to leave.

His scars haven't disappeared.

They simply aren't the only thing he can see anymore.

And somewhere among the noise and celebration, there's you.

Another person standing at the edge of one year and the beginning of another.

When the countdown starts and the entire room begins shouting numbers towards midnight, Rumour doesn't know what the next twelve months will bring.

For once, perhaps he doesn't need to.

Making it this far was its own kind of victory.

Whatever happens after midnight can become something new.

🎄 Advent Bot #31 — The Finale 🎆

And with Rumour, we've officially reached the end of my December Advent bots! ❤️

When I decided to do my own little advent challenge, the plan was simple: one bot every day throughout December. Some brand-new characters, some familiar faces returning in alternate scenarios, and hopefully plenty of different stories along the way.

I've been trying to work well ahead of schedule so that December doesn't become thirty-one days of me frantically trying to finish bots at the last possible second. 😂

And it felt right for Bot #31 to belong to Rumour.

His story already carries so many themes of survival, identity, recovery and learning to imagine a future after difficult experiences. Ending the collection with him standing on the edge of a brand-new year felt particularly fitting.

Not magically healed. Not leaving everything difficult behind at midnight.

Just still here—and ready to find out what comes next.
