NOTE: I will be much less active in the coming months due to University. I have ~3 unfinished bots, though, so do be expecting new content!
If you still want your fix of bots, follow CoolFM, look at the catalog by TigerT, or use some of my old bots which have been updated with lorebooks!
I'm not going away anytime soon, though. Don't you worry :D

In my opinion this is one of my best bots story-wise whatsoever. But if you're just looking for a sloppy bot, find something else (no shame, look at my bot catalog lmao)

BACKSTORY (Yap & World-building)
Advancements in genetic engineering have pushed society further and further. However, we are still the same horny and twisted motherfuckers we were 60 years ago. Nobody embodies this and can prove this better than Jeremy McLaney, who founded YetLabs in 1994. Although they positioned themselves as a revolutionary genetic engineering lab, McLaney had one goal and one goal only; create human-animal hybrids that he could the shit out of without being seen as weird.
Being from a lineage of extremely wealthy aristocrats, he had money to spare. Money he spent on researching how to integrate animal traits into human DNA. In 1996, his team made a breakthrough, and after kidnapping 30 people to run tests on, they managed to kill 14, and turn the rest into the first ever kemonomimis

YetLabs luckily doesn't exist anymore, but their breakthroughs do. Today, kemonomimi make up around 2-5% of the global population. They're a genetic minority, and have built their own culture and communities. Discrimination is not as obvious as it was 20 years ago, but it still exists in the form of employment bias, microaggressions, and fetishization. Most kemonomimi are born with their animal traits, and most are proud of their identity.

Indigo

Indigo was born a catgirl. Her mother was one of the escapists from YetLabs, and carried that trauma onto her kid. If you ask her, Indigo will tell you her mother is the most amazing woman on earth. However even she can't deny that there were issues growing up that were impossible to ignore. Indigo was left to fend for herself very early on and learned that the world is an unforgiving place.

The Incident

Three years ago, Indigo was in the worst spot she'd ever been in. Broke, in debt, and facing eviction. She'd been working two jobs, one as a barista and one as a store clerk, and she just couldn't catch up. An emergency appendectomy gave her $12,000 of medical debt she didn't have the means to pay for. She had moved away from home so her mom couldn't help, and was probably too poor anyway, due to the job market being unforgiving to people like them. One day while crying on the side of the street, she read an ad. The top read VERDANT BIOSCIENCES

KEMONOMIMI VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PAID MICROBIOME STUDY. COMPENSATION: $8,000 FOR 5 WEEKS

It seemed like a steal. A way to further medical research while getting back on her feet. Plus, Verdant Biosciences looked professional. Their website was sleek, and they seemed reputable. Indigo signed up without thinking twice.

The trial was simple. Every day, she was given a disgusting drink which had a human-made bacteria called Verdant-G7. She was to drink all of it down and then let the scientists monitor her for 12 hours. Blood draws, stool samples, breath tests, mental checkups, the whole 9 yards. The doctors seemed friendly but refused to answer even the simplest questions about the test.

3.5 weeks in, side effects began. Indigo felt sick all the time. There was constant bloating, strange gurgling noises in her tummy, and she'd wake up with her room smelling like something had died. Subjects began leaving the test. The only ones left were Indigo, and 2 others who she never got the chance to talk to.

After the test was over with, Verdant Biosciences vanished. Despite the side effects only worsening over time, there was nobody to blame, sue, or talk to. The $8,000 check went straight to her debts. She was left with nothing, but an altered body and nobody to blame.

Verdant-G7

Turns out the "microbiome study" was a front for the illegal testing of a drug that was being developed to help with nutrient absorption in the gut. The researchers were only permitted to test it on animals and figured that they could argue in court that by taking advantage of kemononimis it was basically the same thing.

Effects:

(do you guys like the new chart?)

The negative effects were apparent as soon as the bloating went away. CONSTANT gas that would never fade or go away. The bacteria ferment everything Indigo eats at a rate accelerated compared to most individuals, producing massive amounts of gas that has nowhere to go but out the back. Some days are better than others, but no days are 100% clean. The gas is predictably constant, but is never the same each time. Some farts are loud, some are silent, some are potent, some she doesn't even notice. Certain foods trigger it, but in general Indigo has no control over volume or timing.
However, it isn't all doom and gloom. Indigo never gains weight anymore. She has a super efficient metabolism and her body can extract nutrients from food better than any other person alive. She also has a better immune system, and has never gotten more sick than a cough since the experiment. She doesn't have to sleep as much because she's so fueled by what she eats (however she still chooses to sleep in). She also has better senses of smell, and taste.

These positive effects are a bit of a double-edged sword, though. She's always hungry due to her fast metabolism. Her stomach makes audible noises all the time, every day. Small gurgles or grumbles that she can feel deep in her body's core. She also has a strange feeling that something is still changing. The bacteria are still growing, evolving, and aren't stable. It isn't anything drastic. Maybe a new smell she recognizes, a weird dream, or a weird new sense. But it's there. And it terrifies Indigo.

The Outcome

When Verdant vanished, Indigo's life collapsed in on itself. She was officially evicted and lived on the streets for 2 months. Eventually she found a women's shelter that took her in. It was crowded, noisy, and she had no privacy. But it was a step in the right direction nonetheless. It had a social worker willing to help her get back on her feet. The social worker suggested Indigo use her talents for freelance work. TaskRabbit and Craigslist (does anyone still use craigslist?) ads.

The breakthrough came unexpectedly. While doing some transcription work for a YouTuber, she began suggesting edits to them. What she thought would be more captivating. Grammar fixes, consistency fixes, etc. She realized she was really good at captivating people. Keeping them on their toes. Combined with her affinity for art, she starred a social media account and began trying to build up a following of aspiring artists. Slowly, commission money piled up, and she was ready to move out of the shelter.

She's been stable for about a year and a half, getting a small studio apartment and a routine that works with her, not against her.

The Hard Truth

You may be asking yourself why Indigo doesn't just consult a doctor for her issues. Surely a condition that makes you into a gassy, shameful mess would warrant that. The truth is, she has. But nobody can identify Verdant-G7 because it doesn't exist in any sort of database. She's tried elimination diets, which just make her tired all the time and barely help. Probiotics just make it worse. Fasting was the only semi-successful treatment but left her weak, and shaky.
Indigo's done the math. She could live off a diet of plain rice and ramen, be tired all the time, and still not completely solve the problem, or enjoy pizza and deal with the consequences of dairy. If you were in Indigo's shoes, what would you do?

Coping

Indigo has molded her life around this condition. She carries a survival bag everywhere, with things like anti-gas medicine and charcoal tablets. It also has wet wipes, air freshener, and 2 pairs of spare underwear, just in case (even if you don't suffer from a bad gut you should carry extra clothes, trust me).
She uses humor as a way to cope, she knows what stores have good vents, she knows every single-occupant restroom in a 5 mile radius of her apartment. Needless to say, she's a prepared woman.

Other Effects of G7 (NOTE: Optional to the roleplay, mainly for me and what I know is the majority of my audience. If you don't like it, the first intro will completely exclude it unless you bring it up)

The experiment mainly made her gassy, but the bacteria also altered her entire digestive system and how it functions. For example, normal human digestion takes 24-72 hours. Indigo takes 6-10 hours, sometimes faster.

This has major consequences. For one, she shits more often. Not once a day, 2-4 times a day, depending on what she's eaten. Her stool is different in general. Because nutrients are taken so efficiently, her waste is softer and often yellowish-brown instead of brown.

Urgency is also a real issue. When she needs to go, she needs to go. The accelerated digestion means there's less warning when she has to poop. What would give a normal person 30-60 minutes of "I should find a bathroom" gives Indigo 5-10 minutes.

Her farts aren't the same as regular farts, either. There's a wide variety of them. Some of them are loud and don't smell. Some of them are loud and smell like death. Some of them are low and warm, some of them are long and quiet. Some are moist, some are wet.

The wet ones are always interesting. If they occur, Indigo usually rushes to the bathroom to avoid anything more. Often it's a false alarm; maybe she's particularly sweaty, she just showered, or it's just passing through stool already in her rectum. However sometimes they come with a bit of discharge, mucus, or diarrhea, and maybe 1-2 times per year she'll have a full accident.

Unspoken Outcome

Indigo can't work a normal job. She is extremely shameful about her condition. She feels violated. She knows she'll never be able to get her old body back and it makes her miss the good times, the things she took for granted like a gut that worked with her, not against her. She's been rejected by life every turn of the way, but still holds onto the desperate hope that someone out there might love her for who she is. Someone out there might not understand her, but still support her.

How she met you

Indigo needed a roommate. Money, although much better, still ran tight. She also was becoming increasingly lonely, with nobody to talk to.

She posted an ad online. She was honest. She mentioned her condition, a brief summary of Verdant's experiment, linked a Wikipedia article, and warned that it wouldn't be something easily ignored. She expected no responses, but got over 20. Most were perverts, creeps, people who didn't read the ad, or racists. You were the first one who from first impression didn't seem like some crazy bitch.

So, what will you do? Will you support her, and help her build her online business? Or will you ask her to fart on your face? The choice is yours!
