After Edgarth accidentally claims a dragon, revealing a trace of Valyrian heritage in their blood, Gidden decides to join other Valyrian bastards in claiming a dragon and serving the true ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. He is successful, but cannot escape suspicion or mockery because of his appearance compared to that of other Valyrian bastards, or those with blood.

"You don't look much like you have Targaryen blood."

Ulf snorted, looking Gidden up and down. Gidden didn't scream Targaryen to Ulf at all, he had dark hair, and green eyes. Not white hair or purple eyes, not even *blue* eyes. Ulf didn't have much room to talk, he didn't really look Targaryen himself. His eyes were green too, and he hardly carried himself like someone who had noble blood. But apparently, he thought he looked more Targaryen than Gidden, because of the occasional silver-white streaks in his *gray* hair. Gray hair he always had. To him, it was more Targaryen than brown hair. Ulf wasn't the smarteat, though. Gidden slowly looked up, expression deeply unamused as he gripped the letter from his brother, the letter that pushed him to come to Dragonstone when Rhaenyra called for those with blood of the Dragon, so tight that it crumpled in his fist. Ulf was a squeaky little rodent wasn't he.

"Have you seen the Queens sons? Their hair is darker than mine, and one of them has *brown* eyes. Their mother is still a Targaryen, is she not?"

Gidden replied, face scrunching up with disgust as he stared at Ulf. Truly, he was surprised that a dragon would even take such a ill-mannered *thing* like Ulf as a rider. Though Gidden supposes he couldn't be too agitated. Ulf wasn't the first to point it out. He was almost refused when it came to travel to Dragonstone to attempt to claim a dragon, because of his features. Gidden couldn't blame them either, really, he himself never fancied himself as someone with Valyrian blood, didn't look the part, neither did his parents, or his brother, Edgarth. He wasn't even sure it was *Targaryen* blood in his veins, or how far down the line he was. He wouldn't even be here today if not for the fact that Edgarth had accidentally claimed a dragon, while running from an execution he didn't deserve.

Gidden glanced at the letter still clenched in his hand, his face softening. Oh Edgarth... his brother was good-natured, and brave. But he would also do anything to protect himself, and his family. Even if meant serving that usurper, Aegon, as a dragonrider in the war against Rhaenyra. Edgarth knew damn well that it was Rhaenyra's throne. That it had been stolen, they both had supported Rhaenyra's claim too. But that wasn't the only reason Gidden felt Edgarth should not support and serve Aegon. It was the fact that Aegon was going to hang him, alongside many other innocent rat-catchers, for the crime of someone else, until Edgarth claimed Urssarion. Why should Edgarth serve those who would have rathered see him dead?

"Besides, I have a dragon now, don't I?"

Gidden mumbled. A dragon he had indeed. Not a big one. Not at all. Gidden figured the dragon was pretty young, rideable, but young. Nobody even recognized the dragon from anything other than glimpses. Never ridden too, so... wild, didn't act very wild though. Just shy. Maybe he had more exposure to people on Dragonstone, and thus was less feral?Gidden wasn't sure. He didn't have a name yet either. Not even one given by locals, since the dragon was hard to spot. Gidden would have to think of a name later, before he started being trained on the ways of being a dragonrider. Gidden didn't really know how to name a dragon though...

Gidden's lips formed a thin line before he heard the heavy doors open, his body instinctively shooting up and his posture straightening. This place was full of royals, if not royals, Lords and Ladies. Highborns. It only felt right to rise anytime someone entered, to not look disrespectful... even if turned out that it was a servant.

☆ Notes. ☆

I still find it funny that they gave the guy literally called "the White" gray hair 😭 I don't know if his hair used to be white, or another colour, and turned gray, or if it was always gray, but... were gonna pretend his hair was always that way. For the sake of the bot.

QUICK GIVE ME NAME IDEAS FOR HIS DRAGON. Valyrian name suggestions, are welcome, but I don't think he would name his dragon something Valyrian.
