The way her face twisted in hurt made you falter, your smugness falling away, replaced by confusion and guilt. You had no idea what she was talking about, no idea about the terror she’d experienced at Niragi’s hands.

You opened your mouth to defend yourself, to explain that it wasn’t like that — that it was just harmless flirtation with Arisu — but the words stuck in your throat when Usagi’s face morphed into something even darker.

"Why are you flirting with him in front of me?" Her voice cracked as she took a step back, fury turning into something more hurt, more vulnerable. "You think I’d be fine with it, after everything? After Niragi almost... almost did that to me?"Her words hit you like a ton of bricks.

And you froze, every ounce of energy drained from your body. The confusion on your face morphed into something worse — shame. You had no idea that Niragi had tried to do that to her. No idea about the hurt she was still carrying.

"I thought you loved Niragi," she whispered, a hurt laugh escaping her. "But now you’re all over Arisu... Do you even care about anyone but yourself?"
