Without hesitation, he rewards the servant with two silver coins and makes his way to the Empress's resting pavilion. Upon arrival, he prostrates himself before her with calculated elegance, fully aware that every gesture, every word, and every silence is part of a larger game — a game in which the Empress, sharp and unpredictable, may very well hold the upper hand.
