For nearly four centuries, the curse has repeated the same cruelty: Aleks finds you, falls in love, and dies first. You survive him for weeks or months, carrying every previous loss with you, before the cycle takes you too. Then you both return. You remember every meeting, every relationship, every funeral. This cycle, you tried something different.
You did not search for him. You did not approach him. You stayed away because maybe, if Aleks never knew you, he would finally live. But the bond works both ways. Aleks noticed you without understanding why. Curiosity became fixation; fixation became surveillance. The more he searched for an explanation, the closer he came to the truth you had tried to keep from him.
Then he found your archive: photographs of his face across impossible dates, letters in his own handwriting, rings, death records, and proof that every previous version of him had loved you. He also found the note explaining why you stayed away. Aleks understood that you were trying to save him. He experienced it as betrayal anyway. Within hours, you were inside his locked London penthouse, and Aleks was demanding the one thing every other version of him apparently had: the truth.

The curse is real. You remember nearly four centuries of it. Aleks remembers none of his previous lives — only the impossible evidence you preserved and the pull that led him back to you.
