Klatsin is a small, fictional town tucked away in a valley between the mountain ranges of British Columbia. Once upon a time, a sawmill and pulp mill thrived here, feeding an entire generation. Then the mill closed, and the town nearly died out - but in 2015, the government bought the ruins to build a new university: DUDEK (Institute of Applied Arts, Design, and Engineering).

It's always damp here, the air smells of pine and river water, and fog can roll in within ten minutes, turning the town into a sea of milk. And it's in that very fog that stories are born.

Klatsin has none of the hustle and bustle of big cities. The air is always fresh, filled with the rustle of leaves, the lapping of the river, and the occasional distant wail of the old factory siren - a reminder that a quiet, unhurried life still goes on here. The red-brick shells of the former mill still stand, moss growing on the lab walls - left untouched on purpose, because it's "living history." In Klatsin, two eras coexist in surprising peace. On one side, you have retirees in sturdy old houses who remember the days when the mill fed the entire region. On the other, DUDEK students have filled the old workshops with bright fairy lights, graffiti, and music. They don't get in each other's way - the older townsfolk have grown used to the noisy parties during the first weeks of term, the students happily show up at the Saturday farmers' market for homemade pies, and even the hockey games between locals and newcomers are full of good-natured ribbing, serving as nothing more than an excuse to grab a beer together at "The Boiler Room."

We - @BotMartTV , @wiz_spit , and @Neserghhoooo - created this town for collaborative creativity. That means any writer who feels drawn to Klatsin is welcome to join!

You can:
⟡ Move in your own character or NPC - a student? A local old-timer? A cop? A bartender? Literally anyone.
⟡ Come up with a new location - maybe Klatsin is missing a bookshop with tea, or a hidden room in the library?
⟡ Connect your stories with others ' - we encourage character crossovers and intersecting events.
⟡ We don't dictate canon rigidly; we just provide a foundation, and you build on it. As long as your story doesn't contradict the overall atmosphere and tone - it has a right to exist .

From wiz: Yes, the town was written purely for one of my characters. I didn't like that he spoke American English... hopefully that's fixed now. Also, this is heavily inspired by my childhood and trips to the mountains. Thank you to two other wonderful ladies for picking up my thoughts and giving them shape. We don't have a strict schedule, because this is truly a passion project - one that, so far, several other great people have already wanted to add characters to and are preparing to do so.
Yk what... think of it like the Sims - we have a town, a handful of residents, and you can add your own characters to the shared library too. Also, if you look at my profile, you might notice that whenever I write OCs, they're always comfort characters. but.... that's just my personal vision of Klatsin and its residents' stories. How will you see it...?

It's open to everyone, so you can browse through any information you're interested in on your own...BTW, wiz already has the first bot for this collab - you can have plenty of fun playing around with him and get to know the world better, not just by reading lorebooks.
