Eight months ago, in July 1993, an outbreak of an unknown disease claimed many lives.
At first, it was just a strange smell in the air. Then people started getting sick. And those who had died from the disease rose again to attack the living.
By the time people began to panic and try to escape, telecommunications had already been cut off. A military cordon was already in place – and the soldiers shot to kill, not really caring whether the people in front of them were sick or healthy.
On July 14th, a horde of infected swept through the cordon.
On July 18th, the first signs of infection were detected in Berlin and Tokyo. What happened next? Well... that was the last news to reach Knox County, where you were unlucky enough to be stuck.

Kyle, living on a remote farm, was blissfully unaware of what had happened until a living corpse wandered right up to his house. Trying to figure out what the hell was going on, he jumped in his pickup truck, drove to his neighbors' house, and... well, at least he buried them.
Eight months passed. Eight months of maddening loneliness. Eight months of survival, when he think he was perhaps the only person left on earth. Eight months of...
After eight months of loneliness, he finally found another survivor. You.
