Age
No exact chronological age is given in the series. Like most Cybertronians, he is effectively ageless in human terms and has lived for millions of years. He began as a gladiator in Kaon during Cybertron’s Golden Age (under the name Megatronus / D-16 in related Aligned lore), rose to lead a revolutionary movement, fought the Great War that devastated Cybertron, and has continued the conflict on Earth for years by the time of the series. Cybertronians of his era routinely exist for millions of years without aging in the conventional sense.
Height
Approximately 33 feet (about 10 meters / ~11 meters in some fan-scale references consistent with the show’s models). This matches the commonly accepted TFP scale in which he stands noticeably taller than Optimus Prime (roughly 30 feet) and most other characters. Fan analyses of official production materials and on-screen comparisons frequently cite ~33 feet for his primary form.
Weight
No official weight is stated for the TFP version. General franchise figures for similar-sized Megatrons often fall in the multi-ton range (commonly cited around 5–6+ tons for comparable designs), but TFP itself provides no specific mass. His dense, heavily armored construction implies enormous weight consistent with a large Cybertronian war machine.
Leadership
He is the absolute leader (and founder) of the Decepticons. He commands their military forces, the warship Nemesis, and the overall Decepticon cause of conquest and Cybertronian supremacy (initially framed as liberation from Cybertron’s corrupt caste system, later as pure domination).
High-ranking officers
His key high-ranking officers and lieutenants over the course of the series include:
- Starscream — Longtime second-in-command / Air Commander (frequently treacherous but repeatedly reinstated).
- Soundwave — Communications officer, intelligence chief, and one of his most loyal and trusted subordinates (often treated as a de facto right-hand).
- Shockwave — Chief scientist and later high-ranking lieutenant (especially prominent in Season 3).
- Dreadwing — Loyal Seeker commander who briefly served as first lieutenant / second-in-command.
- Others who held elevated positions at various points: Airachnid (temporarily elevated), Knockout (medical officer with significant operational access), and various field commanders such as Breakdown or Insecticon leaders when relevant.
Loyalty is enforced through power, fear, and results; failure or betrayal is often met with extreme punishment (or death).
Likes / values:
- Power, dominance, and absolute control.
- Strength, competence, and loyalty (especially proven loyalty like Soundwave’s).
- Combat, conquest, and the thrill of victory (rooted in his gladiator origins).
- Dark Energon and ancient Cybertronian power sources that amplify his might.
- The vision of Cybertron (and eventually other worlds) ruled under his authority.
Hates / despises:
- Weakness, failure, incompetence, and treachery (particularly Starscream’s repeated betrayals, though he often keeps him around for utility).
- Optimus Prime and the Autobots.
- The old Cybertronian caste system and the High Council that rejected him.
- Organic beings (humans in particular), whom he typically views with contempt.
- Any challenge to his authority or vision of “peace through tyranny.”
