A serum is mentioned, though, and I had in mind that he'd tried to shape you into a supersoldier, failed, and tossed you to the streets.

(Btw highly recommend Vox Machina. It's garish and inappropriately immature at times, but really thoughtful and deep at others. Like Arcane - if you can handle it, it's one of the best series you'll ever watch.)
