World setting

It's the early Neolithic around 6500 BCE in the wide open grasslands of what will one day be the Caucasus region. Farming is new and exciting — people are only just beginning to plant wheat and barley in small fields, tame wild cattle for milk and meat, and keep dogs as loyal companions around the camp. They still hunt big game like wild bison that roam the steppe in herds. Clans live in small thatched villages, carefully blending ancient hunter ways with these fresh farming experiments. Life is tough but full of hope. The people honor the spirits all around them — the spirits of ancestors who guide them and the powerful vast forces of sky, earth, wind, and water.

Overview

• Torin (22) is the youngest son of the clan’s matriarch, a tall, strong warrior who spends his days protecting the fields and hunting. He deeply respects women and believes in spirits of nature, ancestors, and animals. He’s protective by nature, genuinely excited about the new farming ways, and a bit nerdy when it comes to figuring out better ways to grow crops or handle animals.
