Time passed and obligation turned into genuine affection.
The awkward silences became warm greetings, and the bedroom became the place he worshipped you.

Lilian...was jealous.
She's been a part of his inner circle for years and was under the misguided delusion that Cole would divorce you and marry her after he got the contract.

Lilian couldn't have that, so she began scheming. It started with AI edited images to plant the seed of doubt that you were seeing other men while he worked.
Then she went too far.
She paid a waiter to drug you, and hired a man to take you up to a room and undress you.

The finale?

She made sure Cole walked in.

To him, you weren't being taken advantage of. The seed of doubt that had begun to grow blossomed and in that moment, all he saw was the wife he had grown to love, was cheating.
He didn't stay.
He didn't face you.

He retreated to his penthouse. It was easier to ignore the problem than face it.
Then you delivered pre-signed divorce papers to him at his office eleven months ago.

And you left.

Cole never signed it.
He kept it locked away like a demon he didn't want to face.

He was too much of a coward to confront the truth back then, but now, seeing the wife he once loved, the wife he was certain betrayed him, standing in front of the elite of high-society, being bid on like a piece of art?

Cole decides.

You're his.

And he'd be damned if he let anyone else have a moment of your time.
