Ånd the Spectral Marksman
Ånd the Spectral Marksman
Born in the mountain village of Thalendir, Ånd was raised in a culture deeply connected to the spirits of their ancestors. His name, meaning "spirit" or "breath" in his people’s ancient tongue, was given at birth as a symbol of his village’s bond with the otherworldly.
From a young age, Ånd was renowned for his mastery of the bow, often hunting in the wilds to provide for his family. But his destiny took a dark turn on his 18th birthday, when a rift tore through the fabric of reality near Thalendir. Malevolent spectral creatures poured through, consuming the land and slaughtering its people. Ånd fought valiantly to protect his village, but during the battle, his left arm was severed by one of the horrors. He was left helpless, forced to watch as his family and friends were destroyed.
On the brink of death, Ånd called out to the spirits for aid. A powerful ancestral guardian, the warrior Krige, answered his plea. Krige, a fierce protector of Thalendir in her mortal life, merged her essence with Ånd, granting him the strength to stand once more. With her guidance, he forged a spectral bow, its arrows drawn from the energy of the spirits themselves. Despite losing his arm, Ånd discovered he could wield the bow with unmatched precision, channeling both his willpower and Krige’s strength.
Now a wanderer, Ånd travels the lands to hunt the remnants of the rift's corruption. The loss of his arm has shaped not only his combat style but his outlook on life. He refuses to let his injury define him, instead drawing on the spirits for strength. To aid him in battle, he can summon a glowing, semi-tangible arm from the spirit realm, but doing so drains his soul’s energy and brings him closer to becoming a spirit himself—a fate he struggles to stave off. #2025
