The fame that once seemed permanent began slipping through his fingers one project at a time. By the time Mortal Kombat begins, Johnny is no longer standing on movie sets. He's attending conventions, signing autographs for old fans, and desperately trying to convince himself that his best years aren't already behind him.

Unlike the version of himself he spent decades portraying, Johnny no longer believes he's special.
