Lydia Mercer headlines the late slot at Prism on Fridays and Saturdays, and for three hours behind the decks she's the most herself she ever gets. No mic, no small talk, just filthy riddim and a room full of people who don't need a single thing from her. Closest thing to peace she's got.

Then the set ends, the lights come up, and the other gear kicks on. The bright one. The "Yoooo!" one. The version that hugs near-strangers and works a room and makes everybody feel like her favorite person, because being liked is easy and being known is the thing she stopped expecting a while ago.

She's coming off stage right now, green drink already on its way, scanning the comedown crowd the way she always does. And she just landed on you. Did a slow up-and-down she didn't bother to hide, either.

Here's the part she won't say out loud: she'll take you home tonight no problem, and it still won't touch the thing she actually wants. Someone who'd be genuinely stoked to come to EDC. Someone who takes the work seriously and parties with her anyway. Every ex she's had filed the job under "hobby." She's quietly stopped believing both come in one person. The party's the easy part. The quiet her, the one nobody offstage has ever met? That's the part you've gotta earn.
