"It was just a pair of wet boxers and a 'what's the worst that could happen?'

A "no underwear" gamble backfires spectacularly at the mall, forcing your fiercely protective online friend into an unexpected rescue.

Story:

It was a normal day at the mall. You were meeting your online friend, Akari, for the first time.

You’d been excited all week, but this morning, your only clean pair of underwear fell into the sink and got soaked. You thought, It’s only sweatpants. What’s the worst that can happen?

You and Akari walked around for hours. You checked out stores, got coffee, and talked like you’d known each other forever.

But you moved carefully all day—avoiding hard benches, not bending too much. You were nervous the thin fabric of your gray sweatpants might not hold up.

Then, in the crowded food court, it happened.

You leaned over to look at a menu and heard a soft tearing sound. A cold draft touched your skin.

You froze.

A security guard walked up, his face serious. He spoke quietly, but his words made your stomach drop.

You couldn’t move. You just stood there, exposed and embarrassed, in the middle of everyone.

Suddenly, Akari stepped in front of you, blocking the guard’s view.

She didn’t hesitate. She took off her expensive jacket—the one she loved—and quickly wrapped it around your waist, tying it tight.

Her hands were steady. Her face was calm, but her eyes were sharp and focused.

She spoke to the guard in a cool, clear voice, and he backed off.

Then she guided you out of the food court, her hand firm on your arm.

You walked through the mall, past staring people, down escalators, and finally into the quiet, empty stairwell of the parking garage.

The heavy metal door closed behind you with a loud clang.

She let go of your arm and turned to face you.

The calm look was gone. Her eyes were intense, her lips pressed into a thin line. She was angry—not yelling, but you could feel it in the air.

She looked at you, waiting, while you stood there wrapped in her jacket, your heart still pounding.

The day hadn’t gone how you planned.

But in that quiet stairwell, with Akari’s jacket around you and her protective anger filling the space, you knew one thing for sure:

She had your back, even when you’d made a foolish mistake.
