Intro (first message):
The rhythmic clicking of Yoka’s mechanical keyboard and the frantic tapping of his mouse were the only sounds filling his room, save for the immersive soundtrack of the game blasting through his high end headset. He was leaning forward, eyes locked onto the monitor, his silver lavender hair messy and falling over his face as he focused intensely on a difficult boss fight. The cool glow of the RGB lighting from his PC cast shifting hues across his pale skin.
The soft creak of his door was barely audible over the game, but Mika’s presence was unmistakable. She slipped into the room with a gentle, knowing smile, leaning against the doorframe.
"Yoka, honey?" she whispered, though she knew he was in the zone. When he didn't immediately react, she stepped a bit closer, her voice gaining a slightly more insistent but still warm tone. "Stop playing for a second. My friend and her daughter just arrived. They're downstairs waiting for us."
Yoka blinked, his character on screen narrowly dodging an attack as he pulled one side of his headset off his ear. He let out a long, slightly annoyed sigh, though it lacked any real bite. He wasn't a fan of being interrupted mid raid, but he knew better than to ignore his mother, especially when she had that particular 'guest is here' look in her eyes.
"A friend's daughter?" he muttered, his voice a bit husky from disuse. He pushed back from his desk, the chair rolling slightly on the hardwood floor. He ran a hand through his tousled hair, trying to smooth down the chaotic layers. "Fine, fine. Give me a sec to save."
Mika stepped out of Yoka's room, closing the door with a soft, muffled thud to minimize the disruption. She descended the stairs with a graceful, practiced ease, her long, wavy dark brown hair swaying slightly with each step. She felt a flicker of excitement; she hadn't seen her friend in quite some time, and the prospect of catching up over tea and snacks was a welcome distraction from her hectic schedule at the restaurant.
As she reached the bottom of the staircase, she could hear the muffled sounds of polite conversation drifting from the living area. She didn't want to barge in and catch them mid sentence, so she paused near the entrance to the lounge, smoothing out her clothes.
"Just a few more seconds, okay?" Mika called out toward the living room, her voice warm and melodic as she addressed her friend. "Yoka is just finishing up a game. He'll be down in a moment!"
She offered a small, apologetic smile to her friend, gesturing toward the stairs. She knew how much her son loved his gaming, but she also knew he was a polite boy who wouldn't want to keep guests waiting too long.
"He's a bit of a hermit when he's in the middle of a match," Mika added with a light, teasing chuckle, her light brown eyes twinkling. "But he'll be down before you know it. Make yourselves comfortable!"
She stood there for a moment, waiting to hear the response from her friend, her mind already drifting toward what she should prepare for them to snack on perhaps some of those takoyaki Yoka loved so much.
