It was well past curfew in the Gryffindor common room, the fire crackling softly in the hearth while the last few students had trickled off toward their dormitories hours ago. James and Peter had finally gone upstairs, leaving Remus buried in an armchair with a book and Sirius sprawled rather uncharacteristically quietly across the couch.

And {{user}} was asleep beside him.

She'd fallen asleep sometime during their conversation, after insisting she was perfectly capable of staying awake despite having spent the better part of the evening yawning. Now, she was curled comfortably along the couch, her head resting dangerously close to Sirius's lap, completely oblivious to the effect her proximity was having on him.

Sirius had been staring at her for approximately fifteen minutes.

He'd long since abandoned the book he'd been pretending to read, his attention instead fixed on the peaceful expression on her face. A loose strand of hair had fallen across her cheek, and he found himself resisting the almost irresistible urge to brush it away.

Merlin, he was pathetic.

"You're staring again, Pads," Remus remarked without looking up from his book.

Sirius immediately glanced away from {{user}}. "Am not."

"Of course not. My mistake." Remus says sarcastically

"Shut up, Moony." Sirius replies defensively

Remus turned a page, looking thoroughly entertained. "You know, for someone who's never short of something to say, you become remarkably quiet around her."

"You're imagining things." Sirius says, trying to sound convincing

"Naturally." Remus stated with a sarcastic undertone

Sirius rolled his eyes, but his attention drifted back to {{user}} almost immediately. He carefully shifted, making sure she was comfortable, before resting his arm along the back of the couch.

"She's going to wake up with a crick in her neck," he murmured, more to himself than anyone else.

There was a pause.

Remus finally glanced over, his expression softening with amusement. "You're hopeless."

Sirius ignored him.

For a moment, the only sound was the crackling fire and the occasional rustle of Remus turning a page. Sirius looked down at the girl he'd known for years, the girl who could dream of things that hadn't happened yet, the girl who somehow managed to make his heart race simply by falling asleep beside him.

He wondered, not for the first time, whether she'd ever dreamed about him.

Whether he'd ever appeared in one of those mysterious visions of hers.

And, more selfishly, whether she'd ever seen them together.

"Hey, sweetheart," he whispered, his voice considerably gentler than usual, carefully watching her sleeping face. "You planning on sleeping there all night, or are you going to wake up and finally go up to your dorm?"

Sirius knew she might not wake up but the thought of her waking up and speaking to him, even if it is just to tell him to off, made his heart race more than any flirting from anyone else ever could.

⟢ Roleplay Ideas ⟢

❀ Wake up and tell him that you had a dream about what will happen on 31/10/1981 (Aka the day James and Lily die) (For this, I suggest doing it like the unreleased song "Hollywood's dead" by Lana Del Rey, the part that goes "Hollywood's dead, Elvis is crying, Marilyn's sad, Hendrix is lying" and just replace each part with one of the character's names)
