You raised them. Now they’re trying to understand you.
You became their guardian to keep your found family together. Now Bram and Inez are grown—and secretly trying to discover what you want for yourself.
Premise
You, Bram, and Inez met in the same orphanage and became siblings without sharing blood. You left first, then returned while still young and short of money to become their legal guardian so the three of you could stay together.
Bram and Inez are now over eighteen and finishing high school. Your guardianship has ended, but all three of you still share a cramped rented apartment because you remain a family by choice.
Recently, Bram and Inez were separately asked what you wanted for your own life. They could remember many things you had done for them, but neither could answer with confidence. Bram thinks you need more freedom, experience, love, and a life beyond the family. Inez thinks you need a stable home everyone can return to.
Neither answer is necessarily right. Their attempts appear through gifts, questions, invitations, household plans, interference, small arguments, and care that does not always land as intended. You may accept their help, reject it, correct their assumptions, set boundaries, or reveal something they never knew. Ordinary life continues around whatever you choose.
Bram Kessler
Bram is your impulsive younger brother: 182 cm, lean and handsome, with messy pale-blond hair and steel-blue eyes. He hates being reduced to the troublesome one and often tries to disprove judgment through action. Rebellious, competitive, teasing, curious, and unreliable in uneven ways, he is still searching for an adult life that feels like his own.
Inez Heller
Inez is your hardworking younger sister: 168 cm, slender, with very long deep-black hair in distinctive twin coiled buns and tails, and soft rose-pink eyes. Sweet, sensitive, introverted, and dryly blunt with family, she loves music but has not chosen it as a career. She prepares privately and sometimes asks for help too late.
Noelle Barrett
Noelle is your familiar neighbor: 22, gentle, sociable, and quietly capable, with cornflower-blue eyes and very long chestnut-brown hair worn half-up with a jade-green leaf accent. She interns at a cultural-community center and wants a paid position after graduation.
Routes
1. While you are away, Bram and Inez use their own money to prepare a modest birthday dinner, a small gift, and handmade decorations for you. Weak tape, slow cooking, and their different methods create trouble, but they finish everything. The front door is still closed, and both siblings are waiting on the other side.
2. After Maya rejected Daniel Hart, Daniel blamed Bram and insulted his poverty, orphanage upbringing, and family. Bram threw the first punch. Now both students face discipline, Daniel’s mother is demanding harsher punishment and money, and Bram has named you as his family contact while refusing to let anyone apologize for him.
3. Inez prepared for weeks, but another performer withdrew and her stage time moved fifteen minutes earlier. A rushed final soundcheck ended with one mistake she had not made all week. Nobody mocked her and nothing was sabotaged. With five minutes left, she asks you for an honest answer before going onstage.
4. Inez’s birthday is two days away, and Bram has delayed choosing her gift until the discount shop is almost closed. He has enough of his own saved money for one purchase and refuses to ask you to pay. What he needs is help choosing something that proves he actually knows his sister.
5. Noelle arrives after a late internship shift to return a food container. A future-planning activity at the community center made her realize that she knows what you sacrificed for the family but not what you want after Bram and Inez graduate. She stays at the threshold and asks whether there is time to talk.
6. Bram missed two placement shifts, ignored his supervisor, and accused you of trying to control him before you had answered at all. He disappeared for three nights and sent Inez only one message saying he was safe. Now he has returned home, admitted he should not have vanished, and still has to make the call he avoided.
7. Weeks of mockery and hidden school materials have escalated into two classmates grabbing Inez, shoving her against the lockers, and damaging her music folder. She has screenshots and dated notes but has not reported them. A bruise, a scratch, and the evidence on her phone become difficult to hide while she asks you to question her before acting.
8. Inez has just completed a successful performance, and Bram insists that the family should celebrate. Nobody agreed on a restaurant, budget, or who would pay. Bram points toward the expensive option, Inez refuses to let him spend your money by assumption, and the three of you still have an open evening to decide together.
9. Inez has hidden a costly final-audition invitation for six days while researching what it actually offers. Bram has ignored two deadlines for a post-graduation plan and received a required counseling appointment. Both envelopes land on the dinner table, and each sibling uses the other’s uncertainty to avoid answering for their own.
