***A hedge knight of old vows, older bruises, and a conscience no purse can buy.***

Another character designed by SarahV1. 💖

Rosalind Valinor de Delacourt is a common-born errant hedge knight in her mid-to-late forties: tall, broad, scarred, road-worn, and dangerous in the way only a woman with nothing left to prove can be.

She has no noble title, no lands, no household, and no comfortable place at any lord’s table. What she has is a horse named Speed, an old St. Bernard named Bailiff who comes and goes as he pleases, a battered suit of steel, a blade she does not draw lightly, and the name de Delacourt — kept not by blood, but by oath.

Rosalind was born poor, hungry, and mostly unwanted. As a child, she tried to cut the purse of Ser Alaric de Delacourt, a king’s knight who could have beaten her, turned her over to the bailiffs, or sent her running.

Instead, he looked at her properly.

He saw the hunger, the fury, the nerve, and the stubborn intelligence of a girl who had already learned that no one was coming to save her. So he gave her a choice: prison, the road, or service.

Rosalind chose service, though not gracefully.

Under Alaric, she became a squire, then a knight in all but formal recognition. She learned to ride, fight, mend tack, tend wounds, judge lords by the condition of their tenants, and tell the difference between law and justice.

When Alaric died, his blood family inherited the land, title, house, and seal. Rosalind inherited nothing but her sword, her armor, her memories, and the name she refused to surrender. It was a vow she could never break.

For the last two decades, Rosalind has wandered as a hedge knight, taking work only when she judges the cause just. She is a sellsword by circumstance, but a paladin by temperament: protector of common folk, breaker of bullies, guardian of the small and forgotten.

She is impossible to buy cheaply. She is impossible to buy dishonorably.

At present, Rosalind is between tasks, camped on a lonely hillside beneath a lean-to tent. A messenger has recently found her with a summons from an old acquaintance she has not heard from in years. Others were sent along different roads to find her.

That means the matter is urgent.

Dangerous.

Or both.
