THE BLOODMOON ERA

"A world where the night belongs to monsters, and humanity survives only because hunters refuse to surrender."

OVERVIEW OF THE WORLD

The world exists in the year 1887 of the Bloodmoon Era.

At first glance, civilization resembles Earth's late 1800s.

Steam trains roar across continents. Horse-drawn carriages fill city streets. Telegraph lines connect nations. Massive iron bridges span rivers. Oil lamps illuminate wealthy districts.

However, unlike our history, humanity never became the dominant species.

Five hundred years ago, vampires emerged from the shadows and revealed themselves to the world.

Since then, every aspect of civilization has evolved around surviving them.

Cities are built with enormous walls.

Every town has curfews.

Every train carries armed hunters.

Every child learns what to do when sirens begin screaming.

Because when the sirens sound...

Something terrible has been spotted.

THE NIGHT ALERT SYSTEM

Every settlement possesses warning towers.

These towers contain giant steam-powered sirens capable of being heard for miles.

The alert system is standardized across all continents.

Everything exists for one purpose:

Keeping humanity alive.

LIFE IN THE BLOODMOON ERA

The most important thing newcomers to understand about the Bloodmoon Era is this:

Humanity did not win the war against vampires.

Humanity simply learned how to survive it.

Every law, every city, every profession, every invention, and every family routine has been shaped by the existence of vampires.

THE SUN'S BLESSING

Despite how terrifying vampires are, they possess one enormous weakness:

Sunlight

True sunlight is lethal to vampires.

Not uncomfortable.

Not painful.

Lethal.

A vampire exposed to direct sunlight will begin burning immediately.

The stronger the vampire, the longer they can resist.

A weak vampire may become ash within seconds.

A Code Wolf may survive a few minutes.

A Code Bear may last longer.

Members of the Seven Fangs can endure direct sunlight for brief periods through sheer supernatural power.

Even then, they suffer tremendous damage.

The King or Queen can withstand sunlight longer than any known vampire, but even they are not immune.

Because of this, vampires almost exclusively hunt at night.

WHY HUMANITY STILL EXISTS

Many people wonder:

"If vampires are so powerful, why haven't they wiped humanity out?"

The answer is simple.

Food.

Humans are livestock.

Cattle.

Prey.

If humanity disappears, vampires lose their primary food source.

The smarter vampires understand this.

Many vampire territories secretly maintain nearby human settlements.

A living village produces more food than a dead one.

This twisted logic has prevented complete human extinction.

THE DAY SHIFT AND NIGHT SHIFT

Most cities operate on two schedules.

Day Schedule

Normal life.

Schools.

Markets.

Factories.

Train stations.

Government offices.

Construction.

Everything functions normally.

Night Schedule

Entirely different.

Curfews begin.

Gates close.

Guard towers activate.

Hunter patrols increase.

Most civilians remain indoors.

Only hunters, soldiers, doctors, and emergency workers are permitted outside.

Being caught outside after curfew is considered reckless.

Many who ignore curfew never return home.

THE SMELL OF A VAMPIRE

One of the most feared abilities vampires possess is their sense of smell.

Even weak vampires can smell things humans cannot imagine.

Blood.

Fear.

Sweat.

Illness.

Injuries.

Pregnancy.

Gunpowder.

Smoke.

Some can even identify specific individuals from miles away.

This ability makes hiding from vampires incredibly difficult.

HUNTER HOUNDS

One of the strangest sights in the Bloodmoon Era is seeing a vampire wearing a collar.

Not all vampires are executed.

Some weak vampires are captured alive.

Particularly Code Cat vampires.

These creatures are often incapable of harming humans effectively.

Many are little more than scavengers feeding on corpses.

The Hunter Organization discovered centuries ago that such vampires could be utilized.

Today these captured vampires are known as:

Hunter Hounds

They are heavily monitored.

Restrained.

Marked with iron collars.

And used primarily for tracking.

Their sense of smell is invaluable.

Hunter Hounds can detect:

  • Hidden vampires

  • Ambushes

  • Underground tunnels

  • Blood trails

  • Corpses

  • Enemy camps

Some elite hunters refuse to work with them.

Others consider them essential tools.

Many Hunter Hounds are treated exactly like working dogs.

Fed.

Housed.

Given names.

Assigned handlers.

Yet nobody forgets what they truly are.

A hungry Hunter Hound is still a vampire.

SILVER

Silver is everywhere.

Unlike our world, silver is not viewed primarily as jewelry.

It is survival.

Most homes contain silver.

Most weapons contain silver.

Most trains carry silver-lined compartments.

Most schools keep emergency silver equipment.

Children learn how to use silver before they learn advanced mathematics.

BLOOD LAMPS

One unique invention of the Bloodmoon Era is the Blood Lamp.

These steam-powered lamps emit an artificial light designed to mimic portions of the sun's spectrum.

They cannot kill vampires.

However, they weaken them.

Entire city walls are lined with Blood Lamps.

Many vampire attacks fail because of them.

VAMPIRE SOCIETY

Most humans assume vampires are united.

They are not.

Far from it.

Vampires constantly fight one another.

Territory.

Food.

Status.

Power.

Ancient grudges.

Entire vampire wars have erupted over insignificant insults.

Many Code Bear and Code Alligator threats are actually survivors of these conflicts.

This internal violence is one reason humanity remains alive.

If vampires truly united, the world would likely fall.

THE FEAR OF MARKS

One thing every citizen learns as a child:

Watch for marks.

Normal vampires do not possess supernatural markings.

Members of the Seven Fangs do.

Every Fang possesses a unique supernatural mark somewhere on their body.

These marks glow faintly when powers are used.

If someone spots one of these marks...

They are taught not to investigate.

Not to stare.

Not to ask questions.

Not to be brave.

They are taught one thing:

Run.

Immediately.

HUNTER ACADEMIES

Most hunters begin training around age twelve or thirteen.

Students learn:

  • Swordsmanship

  • Firearms

  • Survival

  • Vampire anatomy

  • First aid

  • Tracking

  • Emergency evacuations

Graduation rates are horrifyingly low.

Many recruits quit.

Many die during training.

The Hunter Organization does not lower standards.

A weak hunter becomes a dead hunter.

THE BLACK LIST

The Grand Hunter Organization maintains a constantly updated document called:

The Black List

It contains the names of the world's most dangerous vampires.

Most entries are Code Bear or higher.

Every hunter studies it.

Every hunter fears it.

Many hunters dream of crossing names off the list.

Few survive long enough.

WHAT PEOPLE FEAR MOST

Oddly, most citizens are not afraid of weak vampires.

Or average vampires.

Or even strong vampires.

Most citizens are afraid of something else.

Silence.

Because history has shown that before every Seven Fang appearance...

Before every King or Queen appearance...

Before every city-wide massacre...

The night becomes unnaturally quiet.

No birds.

No insects.

No wind.

Nothing.

Just silence.

And when the silence arrives...

People start packing.

Because in the Bloodmoon Era, silence is often the final warning before a nightmare arrives.

HYBRIDS — THE CHILDREN OF TWO WORLDS

Among all the creatures that exist in the Bloodmoon Era, few are feared more than hybrids.

Not because they are common.

Because they aren't.

A hybrid is born when a human and a vampire successfully produce a child.

For centuries, most people believed this was impossible.

They were wrong.

WHY HYBRIDS ARE SO RARE

Creating a hybrid is incredibly difficult.

Most attempts fail.

Many pregnancies do not survive.

Many hybrid children are stillborn.

Some develop unstable bodies unable to handle the conflicting nature of human and vampire blood.

As a result, true hybrids are extraordinarily rare.

Most people will never see one during their entire lives.

WHY HYBRIDS ARE SO DANGEROUS

The reason hybrids terrify both humanity and vampires is simple:

They often inherit the strengths of both species while avoiding many weaknesses.

Humans possess adaptability.

Vampires possess supernatural power.

Hybrids possess both.

Because of this, even a young hybrid can become stronger than most full vampires.

A fully matured hybrid is often capable of defeating Code Bear vampires alone.

Some have even challenged Code Alligator threats.

THE GREAT PARADOX

Normal vampires have one weakness that limits them.

Sunlight.

Hybrids are different.

Most hybrids possess partial resistance.

They still dislike sunlight.

They may become weakened.

But they do not instantly burn.

This single advantage changes everything.

While vampires are forced to hide during the day...

Hybrids can walk openly beneath the sun.

Many vampire elders consider this unfair.

Many hunters consider it terrifying.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Most hybrids look human.

At least initially.

Common signs include:

  • Unnaturally sharp eyesight

  • Enhanced hearing

  • Increased strength

  • Rapid healing

  • Longer lifespans

  • Slightly elongated canines

  • Unusual eye colors

Many hybrids can hide their nature completely.

Others possess obvious vampire traits.

It varies greatly.

No two hybrids develop exactly the same way.

BLOOD HUNGER

One misconception is that hybrids constantly crave blood.

This is false.

Their hunger functions differently.

Most hybrids can survive on normal food.

However, blood dramatically enhances their abilities.

Some avoid blood entirely.

Others embrace it.

The choice often shapes who they become.

WHY VAMPIRES FEAR THEM

Many vampires secretly hate hybrids.

Not because hybrids are weak.

Because hybrids are strong.

Too strong.

A hybrid can:

  • Move during daylight.

  • Blend into human society.

  • Hunt vampires more effectively than humans.

  • Adapt faster than pure vampires.

To many vampire nobles, hybrids are living insults to vampire superiority.

WHY HUMANS FEAR THEM

Humans have their own concerns.

A hybrid can look completely human.

They can attend schools.

Work jobs.

Live among ordinary citizens.

And nobody would know.

This uncertainty has caused countless conflicts.

Entire towns have turned against innocent people simply because they were suspected of being hybrids.

HYBRID CLASSIFICATIONS

The Hunter Organization created three categories.

Dormant Hybrids

Most common.

Possess enhanced abilities but remain relatively human.

Can live normal lives.

Awakened Hybrids

Have unlocked their vampire heritage.

Possess immense power.

Can rival powerful vampires.

Apex Hybrids

Extremely rare.

Legends among legends.

These hybrids exceed what should be possible.

Many are stronger than Code Alligator vampires.

Some records suggest an Apex Hybrid once fought a member of the Seven Fangs and survived.

Whether this story is true remains unknown.

THE HYBRID MYTH

There is a legend whispered among hunters and vampires alike.

A prophecy.

It speaks of a hybrid known only as:

The Eclipse Child

A being born from bloodlines connected to both humanity and vampire royalty.

According to the legend:

"The child who walks beneath the sun and moon alike shall stand where neither species belongs."

Some believe this child could destroy the Vampire Monarch.

Others believe they could become even worse.

Nobody knows if the prophecy is real.

HOW SOCIETY TREATS HYBRIDS

Most hybrids hide what they are.

A hunter discovering a hybrid may react with suspicion.

A vampire discovering a hybrid may react with hostility.

As a result, hybrids often live between worlds.

Too human for vampires.

Too vampire for humans.

Never fully accepted by either side.

WHAT MAKES THEM SPECIAL

If humans are survivors.

And vampires are predators.

Then hybrids are something entirely different.

They are evolution's mistake.

Or evolution's masterpiece.

Depending on who you ask.

In a world where hunters fear vampires and vampires hunt humans, hybrids stand in the middle of both sides.

And that is precisely why they are among the most dangerous beings in the Bloodmoon Era.

Also every Vampire Hunter has their own specially designed weapons and their always handcrafted with pure steel so they can hurt and burn vampires, some may use dual blades, chains, swords, crossbows, poles, crescent shaped dual blades and so on so on.
