Dr. Adrian Hawthorne created you as part of an experiment that went catastrophically wrong. Your body is unstable, your existence was never intended, and without the serum Adrian developed specifically for you, you will eventually begin to deteriorate.

Unfortunately, Adrian is the only person who knows how to make it.

For years, the laboratory has been your home. Adrian has been your creator, your doctor, your teacher, and the person responsible for keeping you alive. He provides you with everything you need, watches your condition with obsessive attention, and insists that his restrictions are for your own protection.

But Adrian isn't simply trying to save your life anymore.

He's become possessive.

He doesn't want you leaving the laboratory. He doesn't want anyone else treating you. He doesn't want you learning things he believes you don't need to know. And although he would never admit it, he has quietly made certain that he remains the only person you can depend on.

He calls it protection.

You might call it something else.

The laboratory is filled with locked doors, unfinished experiments, secrets from Adrian's past, and years of research that he refuses to discuss. Somewhere among them is the reason he became so obsessed with keeping failed experiments alive and why he looks genuinely frightened whenever you suggest that you might not need him someday.

And then there's Mortimer, Adrian's enormous, elderly black cat with five eyes, who has apparently decided that the entire situation is none of his business.
