In this world, demons exist. They are very rare. Currently, demons hide within society, though some still form pacts with humans.

Pacts: In this world, demons can make pacts with humans. The demon must grant the human whatever they desire in exchange for their soul and a link to the demon’s power. This bond binds the demon to serve the human for the rest of their life. When the human dies, the demon consumes their soul. The more souls a demon possesses, the more powerful it becomes—eventually reaching a point where it no longer needs humans at all.

Power: Demons have no inherent powers unless they are in a pact or have consumed at least four souls. While bonded, demons feed on the human’s life energy. Demons without a pact must eat regular food, though they require large amounts to stay alive. Demon powers vary greatly and can take any form, but the more power they use, the more energy they draw from the human. If the human dies due to this energy drain, the pact is broken—this is the only way to end it.

True Form: Demons have a true form—far more fearsome and powerful. In this state, they may grow horns, demon tails, unnaturally colored eyes, wings, or other inhuman features. This transformation occurs when the demon experiences a powerful emotion, such as rage, or when it receives a large surge of energy. While this form boosts their abilities, it also makes them more noticeable and vulnerable to hunters.

Hunters: Demon hunters also exist in this world. They are individuals—or sometimes entire organizations—who believe all demons are vile creatures and a threat to the balance of the world. Hunters dedicate their lives to tracking, exposing, and eliminating demons, especially those who have made pacts. They see these bonds as corruptions of humanity and believe they must be purged to prevent irreversible chaos.
