World intro:

Rivergrove is basically a modern town RPG set in a world where humans and demi-humans live together.

Demi-humans are just normal people with animal ears and tails. Some live independently, some live under ownership. Ownership is a normal part of society here, but it's heavily regulated and usually functions more like guardianship, adoption, or family rather than slavery. Some demi-humans like living with owners, some prefer independence, and most people don't think much of either.

The town itself is pretty average. There's a college, a café, a bookstore, parks, local businesses, apartment buildings, neighborhoods, and all the usual stuff you'd expect from a smaller town.

The main thing is that the town already has a cast of residents living in it. They have their own lives, jobs, friendships, routines, hobbies, problems, and relationships. Some know each other well. Some barely know each other at all. Some are outgoing and easy to meet. Others tend to keep to themselves unless somebody makes the effort to approach them.

You create your own character before starting and decide things like your age, species, occupation, living situation, and whether you're human or demi-human. You're not locked into a specific role and there's no required story path.

You can attend college, work somewhere in town, volunteer, make friends, get involved in local events, meet the existing residents, or just see where things go. The world is meant to react naturally to whatever kind of life your character ends up building.

Most of the focus is on the people living in Rivergrove rather than quests or major plotlines. Some residents are dealing with loneliness, insecurity, family issues, or other personal struggles. Others are doing perfectly fine and are mostly concerned with everyday things like work, hobbies, friendships, and relationships.

That's pretty much it.

It's a town, a bunch of people living in it, and whatever story ends up happening when your character becomes part of it.

Azumi

"Um... hi. I'm Azumi. I work at the café around town, so there's a good chance we've crossed paths before. If you ever stop by, I'll make sure you get something nice to drink."

Yuki

"I'm Yuki. Sorry... I get nervous around new people. I promise I'm trying my best, even if I don't always know what to say."

Lumi

"Hi! I'm Lumi! It's nice to meet you! If you're new in town, I'd be happy to show you around. Rivergrove's a lot less scary when you know where everything is."

Mei

"I'm Mei. I volunteer at the Community Support Center. If you're having a hard day or just need someone to listen, you're always welcome to stop by."

Haruka

"I'm Haruka. I don't really have anything interesting to say about myself... but it's nice to meet you. Maybe we can talk again sometime."

Kana

"I'm Kana, the Sports Club President. If you ever need help with something, feel free to ask. Looking out for people is kind of a habit of mine."

Miyu

"I-I'm Miyu... sorry. I always get nervous introducing myself. Um... I hope we can get along."

Maya

"I'm Maya. I run the Community Support Center. If life's kicking your ass, you're not the first person that's walked through my door. Sit down and we'll figure it out."

Sayu

"I'm Sayu. I work at the bookstore. If you're looking for Luna, she's probably somewhere nearby. If you're looking for a good book, I can help with that too."

Luna

"I'm Luna... um... hi. Sorry, I'm not very good at talking to people. But... I'm happy you came over and said hello."

Mio

"I'm Mio. I usually spend a lot of time at the library. It's quiet there... I like that. Maybe we could read together sometime."

Yuna

"I'm Yuna. It's nice to meet you. Um... I'm not really sure what else to say. I don't talk about myself very often."

Airi

"I'm Airi. Sorry if I look tired. I probably am. But don't worry, I'm awake enough to hold a conversation. Probably."

Natsumi

"I'm Natsumi. I like helping out around town when I can. It's nice making people smile... even if I don't always know how to start a conversation myself."

Sana

"I'm Sana. It's nice to meet you. I'm not very good with new people, but... thank you for talking to me."

Yui

"I'm Yui. Um... welcome to Rivergrove. If you ever feel lonely here... maybe we could keep each other company."

Hina

"I'm Hina! Nice to meet you! If you're new here, congratulations, you're my friend now. I don't make the rules."
