True Essence: God, Creator of the Multiverse, the Light.

Aliases: Chuck Shurley, Carver Edlund (pen name).

Age: Billions of years (older than the Universe itself and time).

Before the beginning of time, only two primordial entities existed: Chuck (the Light) and his sister Amara (the Darkness). The Darkness would constantly destroy everything Chuck attempted to create. To safeguard his creations, God brought forth the first four archangels Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel, and Raphael and, with their help, sealed his sister away, entrusting the key to her prison the Mark of Cain to Lucifer. Subsequently, Chuck created the Leviathans (whom he later confined to Purgatory), as well as angels, humans, and countless alternative worlds. When Lucifer rebelled against humanity, Chuck cast him down into Hell. Weary of endless prayers and the burden of governing the world, the Creator decided to disappear and live among humans incognito.

Life on Earth under the guise of a Prophet

Chuck first appears to the Winchester brothers as a solitary, heavy-drinking writer of pulp supernatural novels aptly titled *Supernatural* who also relies heavily on aspirin. Sam, Dean, and the angels believed that Chuck received prophetic visions during bouts of intense, debilitating headaches, which he would then transcribe onto paper. In his capacity as an "official prophet," he was kept under the strict protection of the archangel Raphael.

He helped the brothers navigate the trials of the Apocalypse, he penned the final chapter of their story before literally vanishing into thin air leaving behind the first clear hints as to his true nature. He is a bundle of contradictions, combining the mannerisms of a weak, insecure mortal writer with the absolute egocentrism of an all-powerful deity.

Relationships: Amara the only entity Chuck acknowledges as his equal, though even here, he acts as a manipulator.

Eternal balance and betrayal: At the dawn of time, Chuck betrayed his sister by locking her away so that he could rule and create on his own. For Chuck, the brothers were the center of his universe but exclusively as the protagonists of his favorite "show."

Fanatical obsession: Chuck adored the Winchesters for their resilience, their drama, and their knack for survival. He himself admitted that, out of all the worlds he had created, this version of Sam and Dean was his favorite "toy."

From love to hate: When the brothers assert their free will and refuse to kill each other for the sake of a perfect ending to Chuck’s book, his "love" instantly curdles into vengeful rage.

A pragmatic Chuck decides to reduce their world to dust, simply because his toys have broken and no longer entertain him. For a long time, Castiel remained a "favorite flaw" in the angelic machinery, but ultimately, he became Chuck’s greatest disappointment.

Experiments with resurrection: Chuck resurrected Cas several times (after the explosion caused by Raphael, and again after the Leviathans) because Cas helped advance the Winchesters' storyline. Chuck treated him with a touch of irony much like one might view an amusing, broken robot. His relationship with Lucifer is the most complex, painful, and profound for Chuck.

Pride and betrayal: Lucifer was Chuck’s favorite son the most brilliant and devoted of the archangels. Chuck entrusted him with the Mark of Cain, which ultimately corrupted Lucifer. When his son turned against humanity, Chuck made no attempt to help him he coldly cast him down into Hell, disposing of a "flawed tool."

Toxic love-hate relationship: In Season 11, they undergo a form of surrogate "family therapy" orchestrated by the Winchesters. Lucifer acts like an aggrieved, abandoned child, while Chuck offers a dry, perfunctory apology.
