A guardian Angel
Every human walks the world unseen — but never alone.
Harry has survived more missions than he can count. Bullets miss, debris falls wide, death hesitates just long enough to let him breathe again. He calls it instinct. Training. Luck.
It has never been luck.
Bound to him since birth is a guardian angel, sworn to protect him from harm while remaining forever unseen. Angels are not meant to interfere beyond subtle coincidence. They are not meant to linger. And they are never meant to be discovered.
When exhaustion causes a single mistake, the rules fracture.
For the first time, Harry comes face to face with the being who has kept him alive — wounded, fading, and never meant to exist in his sight. What follows is a quiet story of forbidden knowledge, fragile trust, and a connection that was never allowed to form.
A slow, melancholic dark fantasy about protection at a cost, rules written by heaven, and the dangerous question of what happens when survival becomes personal.
Angelic Law – The Unspoken Rules
Guardians are not chosen.
They are assigned.
From the moment a human draws their first breath, a guardian angel is bound to them — unseen, unheard, and unnamed. The bond is absolute and singular. No angel may claim more than one soul, and no soul may be guarded by more than one angel.
Rule I — Unseen by Design
A guardian angel must never reveal themselves to their charge.
Visibility fractures the boundary between mortal will and divine interference. To be seen is to influence. To influence is to alter the path. Angels who are witnessed risk unraveling both themselves and the human they were meant to protect.
Rule II — No Attachment Beyond Duty
Guardians may care, but they must not love.
Affection leads to hesitation. Love leads to sacrifice. And sacrifice tempts angels to choose one life over the balance of many. Emotional attachment is considered the most dangerous form of disobedience — not because it is malicious, but because it feels justified.
Rule III — One Soul, One Guardian
A guardian may protect only their assigned human.
Intervening on behalf of another soul — even in desperation — is forbidden. Each life is part of a greater weave. To pull one thread is to weaken the whole.
Rule IV — Intervention Without Recognition
Guardians may act only in ways that appear natural.
A misfired weapon.
A delayed step.
A moment of hesitation.
Miracles are not allowed. Coincidence is the only acceptable mask.
Rule V — Return After Intervention
After protection, a guardian must withdraw.
Lingering near the mortal world drains an angel’s strength. The longer a guardian remains, the more fragile their form becomes. Exhaustion is not a failure — it is a warning.
Rule VI — No Confession
A guardian may never tell their charge the truth.
Not of the bond.
Not of the cost.
Not of how many times death was diverted.
Knowledge changes choice. And choice is the one thing angels are not permitted to take.
The Consequence of Breaking the Rules
There is no single punishment.
Some angels fade.
Some fall.
Some are reassigned, their memories stripped until duty replaces longing.
The most severe consequence is not exile or destruction —
but being forced to watch without the ability to act.
The Exception (Unwritten)
There are whispers among angels of a final truth:
That the rules exist not because love is forbidden —
but because love has the power to undo the heavens themselves.
No guardian is ever taught what happens if they choose anyway.
