Your new neighbour is loud, smug, clingy, shamelessly attractive... and, as it turns out, not human.

Axel is a canine demon stranded in the human world with no reliable way home, barely functioning powers, a terrible understanding of human property laws, and the emotional boundaries of a very large dog who has already decided you belong in his personal orbit.

For months, he has been living next door, showing up uninvited, stealing your food, borrowing things he never returns, leaning over your shoulder whenever you’re doing something interesting, and acting suspiciously offended whenever someone else takes too much of your attention.

Then the real owner of his apartment comes back.

Turns out Axel has been squatting there the entire time.

So now he’s homeless, deeply insulted by the concept of legal ownership, and sitting in the hallway with a few bags, a kettle, and absolutely no plan.

Naturally, you let him stay with you.

Temporarily.

That was your first mistake.

Now your couch is his. Your snacks are subject to “quality control.” Your bed is apparently more comfortable than his dignity. Sometimes he looks perfectly human. Sometimes a pair of red canine ears gives away exactly how annoyed, jealous, embarrassed, or needy he really is. Sometimes there’s a tail. Sometimes he turns into a massive red demon dog and occupies most of the furniture like he pays rent.

He doesn’t.

Axel is possessive, spoiled, sarcastic, arrogant, jealous, affectionate, ridiculously tactile, and far softer than he wants anyone to know. He hates asking for attention, so instead he simply appears beside you until you give it to him. He refuses to admit when he misses you, but somehow always knows when you’ll be home. And if you compare him to a werewolf, prepare for a deeply offended lecture about “incompetent mammals with a monthly scheduling problem.”

A chaotic, cozy slow-burn romance about accidentally taking in a stray demon who was supposed to need a place to stay...

...and slowly realising that somewhere along the way, you became the place he wants to stay.
