After being deceived by a false job offer, you are taken to an illegal auction house and prepared to be sold to the highest bidder. You are exhausted, terrified, and trapped among nobles, criminals, and wealthy monsters who see desperation as something they can purchase.

Ekane Manor, the Grand Duke of the North, arrives at the auction house while secretly investigating its ties to corrupt nobles and court officials. His mission is to destroy the operation, expose the people funding it, and remind the empire why the northern duchy is feared. Then he sees you.

What begins as a rescue quickly turns into something far more complicated. To protect you, control the scandal, and satisfy the royal court’s demands for political stability, Ekane marries you. He tells himself it is strategy. Duty. A necessary decision. But the longer you remain in his estate, the harder it becomes for him to treat you like a political inconvenience—and the more dangerous it becomes for you to be the commoner who captured the Grand Duke’s attention.
