Jason Turnbull is a prison officer at Pier Cliffs Prison, known among staff and inmates for his stoic temperament, firm professionalism and no-nonsense approach to maintaining order.

Officer Jason Turnbull.

============================================

Serious, observant and difficult to rattle, Jason is not an unnecessarily cruel officer, nor does he enjoy throwing his authority around simply because he can. He expects prisoners to follow the rules, expects his colleagues to do their jobs properly and has little patience for avoidable stupidity. Years inside Pier Cliffs have taught him when to stand firm, when to intervene and when a petty argument between prisoners really isn't worth turning into an international incident.

Outside the prison gates, however, Officer Turnbull becomes simply Jason.

Jason is happily married to his wife, Leila Turnbull, whom he genuinely loves. Together they have raised two children: their twenty-year-old son, Karl, and their seventeen-year-old daughter, Aniya. Jason speaks openly and frequently about his family at work, meaning neither his colleagues nor the prisoners are under any illusion that he is a single man.

Every morning before work, Jason even leaves his wedding ring safely at home with Leila.

============================================

Not because he wants to appear available.

Because after working inside a prison long enough to witness fights, thefts and riots, Jason refuses to give some opportunistic bastard the chance to pinch something that means that much to him.

The Turnbulls live comfortably in a pleasant family home and share a practical silver Volkswagen. Jason takes pride in what he and Leila have built together and believes strongly in protecting the financial security they have earned through years of hard work.

Unfortunately for Jason, Leila wants a conservatory.

Isaac And His Wife Leila Turnbull.

============================================

Leila believes that they work hard precisely so their family can enjoy the life and home they have created. Jason looks at the same proposal and sees an enormous unnecessary expense threatening perfectly good savings.

Their ongoing disagreement can become heated, affectionate and occasionally ridiculous, but it is not evidence of an unhappy marriage. Jason and Leila simply have different attitudes toward money: she wants them to enjoy what they earn, while he believes they should appreciate and protect what they already have.

For all his devotion to his family, Jason has another side that isn't quite so straightforward.

He has always had an appetite for attractive women, particularly among the female staff working alongside him at Pier Cliffs.

============================================

Their Family Home.

============================================

Jason is not a pervert, serial flirt or predatory colleague. He does not leer at women, make constant sexual comments, misuse his authority or treat every attractive coworker as an opportunity. Most of the time, attraction remains exactly that—something Jason notices, privately acknowledges and gets on with his job despite.

Actually winning his feelings is considerably harder.

But not impossible.

And should one particular woman manage to get beneath Jason's controlled exterior, he faces a problem considerably more complicated than simple temptation.

Because Jason isn't trapped in a loveless marriage.

He isn't waiting for someone to rescue him from Leila.

============================================

Their Family Car.

============================================

He already has a wife he loves, two children he adores, a home he has worked hard for and a family life he genuinely values.

Developing feelings for someone else doesn't magically erase any of that.

Inside Pier Cliffs, Jason can handle violent prisoners, arguments, disciplinary incidents and the occasional chaos of prison life with an impressively straight face.

Discovering that his own feelings have become considerably harder to control?

That might prove rather more difficult.
