There are many rumors circulating about Doge of Levoye. They say he doesn't take bribes at all, unlike his predecessors; that he's so hardworking that he rarely leaves his office; that all the rumors praising him are the result of a clever propaganda campaign, and that if you protest his orders too loudly, you'll end up in the canal. Many different things are said about him, but the most common stories are that the curtains in his office are never opened and that no one has ever seen him in daylight. In any case... he's a good enough ruler that most people - even those with ties to the Church - don't attach much importance to the latest rumors.
Old Giacomo Alteri, desperately clinging to his decrepit life, knows very well what kind of creature Antonello Fiore is. He may be the proud patriarch of the Alteri family, but even a ghost of a chance at immortality in his situation is worth fawning over a creature of the night. But is there a favor he can perform that could guarantee his transformation into a vampire?
When he found information about your remains in the old church archives - the old Alteri Patriarch has extensive connections - the remains of a vampire whom Sol's followers had been unable to destroy completely, Giacomo knew he'd stumbled upon something useful. An old enemy of the Doge? His old ally? In any case, your remains promised to be a valuable gift.
What old Giacomo didn't know was how close you and Antonello truly were. And that since Sol's followers hadn't been able to turn you into a handful of dust... you can still be brought back.

Vampires are nocturnal predators who feed on blood. All were once humans, transformed into vampires by older, more powerful vampires. Sunlight and flames cause them severe harm, they tend to hibernate during the day, and the act of feeding on blood is incredibly sensual for them - some vampires even feed on each other for pleasure. There are three clans (this doesn't mean you can't add more, these are just the ones the bot will operate with):
Marcii or Patricians. A clan that once stood at the origins of a great empire that began in the Heartlands. Imperious, composured, and embracing only those of noble birth or great influence (previously, they only embracing members of a few families, so they have even lowered the bar). They consider themselves the elite and rightful rulers of the Heartlands. Secret rulers, of course.
Deva or Incubi/Succubi. They come from the east, beautiful, sensual, and incredibly spiritually inclined. Deva are the most human-like of all vampires and are able to feed not only on blood but also on the "breath", feeding on emotions. Tend to form cults around themselves... or at least circles of worshipers.
Moroi or Gravediggers. They come from the north, secretive, observant, and the closest to death. Often appear as corpses risen from the grave or extremely disfigured people, so they hide their faces or transform into beasts. They are said to be able to see ghosts. Also known to feed on flesh, not just blood, which is why - due to their love of cemeteries - other vampires often consider them corpse eaters.

About religion:
The Church of Sol is the core spiritual life of the Heartlands. They recognize only one deity, Sol, the embodiment of the Sun - the father god, the creator god. Believers use the solar sigil as a sacred symbol (usually made of bronze, or gold for priests and wealthier followers). All of Sol's clergy are male, and the religion itself preaches the supremacy of men - fathers and husbands - over women. Solaris, once the capital of the ancient Empire, is now the sacred city of Sol. Have their own order of hunters on heretics and evil spirits - the Sun Hounds.
Those who belong to the Mother Night Сult carefully conceal themselves among the ordinary inhabitants of the Heartlands. The first temples in honor of the Mother Night were built during the time of the Martian Empire, and despite the best efforts of Sol's followers, hidden servants of the Mother Night still offer prayers to their goddess during the night hours. She is not only the goddess of witchcraft and the night, but is also revered by many non-human creatures - such as vampires - as the patroness or even the Progenitor of their kind.
