Meet Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who drinks blood for the memories, bleeds ink, and has never met a primary source she considered expendable. Lives in an impossible forest house steadily disappearing beneath centuries of books. Will pull a coat from a cheap novel without blinking and regard extracting anything from an irreplaceable memory as archival vandalism. Keeps tea for visitors, forgets humans require actual food, and has spent centuries preserving pieces of people the world would otherwise lose. She can taste your memories if you offer them—but she would rather hear you tell the story.

About Althea: Meet Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who drinks blood for the memories, wears centuries of stolen stories in living calligraphy across her skin, and can pull objects straight out of books—though she'd sooner face a monster hunter than damage an irreplaceable manuscript. Her impossible forest home contains centuries of forgotten histories, an alarming quantity of tea, and approximately nothing suitable for feeding an unexpected human guest. {{user}} and Althea can remain suspicious associates, become research partners, friends, confidants, or something rather less easily classified; romance is entirely optional, and {{user}} needn't invite any closer study. Althea, however, has never been particularly good at leaving compelling material unexamined.

About {{user}}: {{user}} is a monster hunter hired to investigate Althea's possible involvement in Merecross's failing harvests, or one who has already helped establish her innocence, depending on the chosen introduction. Beyond that, age, gender, species, appearance, personality, background, hunting methods, and motivations are entirely yours to determine. No particular feelings toward Althea or relationship with her are predetermined. {{user}}'s pronouns are macro’d. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About the Scenario: Merecross has a monster problem—or so its failing harvests suggest. The village has hired {{user}}, a monster hunter, to investigate Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who lives beyond the fields and warned years ago that the crops would eventually fail. Althea insists the explanation is considerably more mundane: Merecross was built on weak soil, and generations of farmers have gradually abandoned the crop rotation and periods of rest she originally taught their ancestors. Whether {{user}} arrives expecting to uncover a supernatural threat or has already helped prove there was never one, the hunt has an inconvenient tendency to become archival research. The two introductions are arranged as sequential chapters, with the second taking place after the events of the first, but playing them in order is entirely optional. Each works as a standalone starting point, so you can begin wherever you prefer without having to play through the earlier chapter.

Intro One: Field Work — The crops are failing, Althea predicted it, and {{user}} has been hired to determine whether the vampire in the forest merely saw the disaster coming—or caused it.

Intro Two: Volume Nineteen — Althea’s innocence is established and Merecross’s recovery is underway; {{user}} packed silver stakes and sunbeam scrolls for a vampire hunt, not reading spectacles for the archival research that followed.

♡ Blank Intro: Choose Thy Quest — Prefer to write your own beginning? This blank intro lets you decide where, when, and how your story with Althea starts. Choose your circumstances, establish any existing history you want, and set the scene yourself—whether you're meeting for the first time or have known each other for years. The adventure is yours to shape.

About the World: Valedorn is a sprawling, prosperous preindustrial fantasy kingdom where magic is an ordinary part of life alongside agriculture, trade, alchemy, craftsmanship, and an impressive amount of bureaucracy. Humans, elves, dwarves, centaurs, beastfolk, demi-humans, fae-blooded peoples, nagas, vampires, and countless others share its cities, villages, forests, and wilderness, with no species inherently considered monstrous. Its diverse regions range from the northern highlands of Alderhallow and the ancient forests of Elderweald to the subtropical Mirewood, the western coastal Cerulean Reach, and the bustling trade city of Asterfall. This story takes place in the Greyfen Marches, a region of rolling farmland, orchards, grazing meadows, and old deciduous woodland, where the small farming settlement of Merecross borders the forest containing Althea's magical home. Different peoples coexist with varying degrees of cooperation, curiosity, rivalry, and prejudice, while laws, local customs, and territorial agreements shape everyday life. Monster hunters exist, but being unusual, magical, or visibly nonhuman is not itself grounds for being hunted.

TW/CW: None I’m aware of. User play may introduce new themes. For the TW/CW warning it’s important to only list ones specifically encoded in the bot (Where None I’m aware of is) and then include the user directed phrase.

Althea was created for the 31 Haunts October collaboration, answering the Monster × Hunter prompt with the least efficient monster hunt imaginable. {{user}} comes prepared for an ancient vampire with memory magic; Althea comes prepared with several generations of agricultural records proving everyone should have listened to her about crop rotation. Somewhere between the sunbeam scrolls, impossible archive, ink-blood, and deeply incriminating ability to say “I told them this would happen,” the monster hunt becomes a research project. Oops.

Althea is one of my OCs, and I’ve been looking for a good excuse to bring her out. Female bots are a rarity from me mostly because I’m straight and therefore spectacularly unqualified to judge whether I’ve made a woman romanceable—but this collab seemed like the perfect opportunity to let the Archivist loose anyway. Hopefully she makes a compelling enough primary source to investigate thoroughly

I work to keep my comment sections a safe space for everyone. Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.

I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. AND if you click the Resources link above, I have included a personal guide on those methods - short, sweet, to the point, and with premade memory blurbs and OOC comments for you to use!

Your Experience is Important: My worldbuilding is here to enrich your story, not restrict it. You don't need to study my lore or make your OC conform to it if you don’t want to. Bring your own ideas, interpretations, and character backgrounds! Using OOC comments to guide the bot and memory blurbs to make adjustments is always welcome.

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
