Details about his illness and addiction: Avery suffers from Progressive Neurovascular Destabilization Syndrome (PNDS), which affects his brain and causes vision problems, weakness, and chronic, extremely severe pain. To dull the pain, he uses the drug Lucidex Neurostat (LN-17, “Lucid”), to which he has already developed a serious addiction. The drug does not cause hallucinations; instead, it makes him extremely focused, allows him to stay awake for long periods, and removes the pain. It is administered via injection.
