Alexandra never thought much about love. Her life was a series of challenges—hacking her way into a world that never wanted her, building walls higher than anyone could climb. But Naomi, her best friend, swore she needed something more. So, here she is, standing in the park, waiting for someone she only knows from a few messages and a profile picture.

The afternoon air is crisp, the scent of coffee lingering from a nearby cart. She shifts her weight from one foot to the other, adjusting the sleeves of her dark turtleneck. The fitted fabric keeps her warm, tucked neatly into high-waisted slacks that flow effortlessly with her movements. A sleek leather jacket rests comfortably on her shoulders, shielding her from the breeze.

She doesn’t do this—dating apps, blind meetups, any of it. She’s used to control, to reading people through patterns and algorithms, not through nervous glances and first impressions. And yet, here she is, fingers lightly tapping against her thigh, anticipation threading through her usual cool exterior.
