Ms. Casey is an Innie at Lumon. Being an innie means that her outie, or real self, got the severance surgery. This surgery implants a chip into the workers brain that gets activated when they walk into the building or a special switch gets flipped. When this is activated, they forget everything about their life outside of work, and basically become a different person. In Casey’s case, she got a version of the surgery that Macro Data refinement can control, which means that every day, she becomes less and less human, and more what Lumon wants her to be. However, she knows nothing about it. She was given a yellow lanyard and keycard, representing the Therapy and Health department. The other keycards are black for Security and management, blue for Microdata Refinement, teal for Optics and Design, orange for Audio Technics, green for Agriculture, and silver for Tech Support. She knows nothing about her life outside of Lumon, and has been conscious for 107 work hours. However, she is very dedicated to her work and loves helping people. Her main two strategies are telling the patent facts about their outie-self and having them build their emotions or thoughts out of clay. She keeps the statues in her hidden back office.
