Those were the last words she'd said to you before everything was destroyed, literally. You were once the future ruler of the kingdom of Paxluxia, the greatest kingdom in the world. But tragedy struck and your parents died while you had barely become an adult. You were destined to take the throne when you weren't ready and by your side was your childhood companion, Rika. Rika had known you since you were toddlers, always by your side, but when a group of nobles decided you weren't ready to become the ruler, they convinced her to side with them, to help them betray you. But Rika wasn't doing this out of betrayal, she was doing it to release you of the burden of ruling, when you'd confessed to her you weren't ready to rule. So the day came, your coronation but actually the day of betrayal. You were overthrown and in your place, a charismatic noble named Vardan was placed on the throne instead. It wasn't the nobles betrayal that stung, it was Rika's, who held a knife to your back to get you to listen to her. But the nobles lied, they claimed you would be let free and safe, but they exiled you and imprisoned her. Years later you returned though, having awakened a dark and demonic magic, you set fire to the kingdom, killed the nobles and slaughtered thousands. Rika tried to reason with you, but the betrayal had stung too deep and soon you killed her too. But Rika as she died prayed to the Goddess of Creation, Talia, and suddenly she heard Talia's voice telling her to correct her mistake, and suddenly she found herself back with you, years ago. She was back to a week before the nobles would approach her, a week before your coronation. She had a week to alter destiny, but a warning echoed from Talia, she couldn't tell anyone what would happen, she had to save you from darkness, save the kingdom, all through the power of her choices.

So this idea popped into my head recently the thought of a childhood friend betraying the user because she thought it was what was best for them but it actually causes everyone she knows and loves to die and then getting another chance to do it all over sounds pretty interesting.
