BLACKROCK RPG | Phighting!
||The Dystopia.||
Blackrock is a small, cold, mountainous, and sparsely populated region of the Inphern under the control of the Korblox Administration. Located in the far north and consisting mostly of the massive Deathspeaker mountain range, Blackrock is geographically isolated and separated from the rest of the Inphern. This remoteness, combined with the secretive nature of the administration governing the region, has made reliable information difficult to obtain and travel to and from Blackrock heavily restricted. As a result, records concerning Blackrock are often fragmented, incomplete, or otherwise insufficient for archival purposes. Unless otherwise noted, much of the information presented below is based on partial records, secondhand accounts, and historic legends.
Early History
Blackrock is a small, cold, mountainous, and sparsely populated region of the Inphern under the control of the Korblox Administration. For most of its recorded history, the Deathspeaker mountain range largely confined permanent habitation of Korbloxian inphernals to the elevated mountain basin immediately surrounding the Spawnpoint. Travel and settlement beyond this basin remained extremely limited, as the high elevation, difficult terrain, and year-round hostile weather made journeys into the surrounding areas exceptionally hazardous. That is not to say there were no attempts to leave the basin, as information provided by the Korblox Administration indicates that numerous remains of early small settlements and encampments were established in caves and nearby valleys and basins by ancient inphernals. Although some appear to have succeeded for a time, none survived. All of these early settlements were eventually abandoned or destroyed, with available evidence attributing their demise to predation by hostile fauna, starvation, and hypothermia.
The sole exception to this pattern remained settlements directly surrounding the Spawnpoint. Because of their proximity to the spawn and their relatively calm environment compared to the area outside the basin, settlements near the spawn grew gradually, with sheltered keep walls protecting the inphernals from outside elements. Over time, feudal settlements emerged around the basin ruled by cooperating noble houses. These settlements then gradually merged and consolidated into a city known as Crownward. Under these noble houses, Crownward continued to expand slowly outward. They built new walls, incorporating and transforming surrounding settlements and previously undeveloped portions of the basin into populated urban areas. Distinct sections of the growing city eventually became too large to administer directly, and control of the areas outside Crownward became separate wards, each administered by a noble family.
By the time the city, now known as 'Centauria', reached the basin's natural limits, seven wards had developed; though now part of a single continuous city, each retained its own laws and specialized functions.
As Centauria reached full development, eager nobles seeking to earn their own fortunes began to look beyond its borders, establishing temporary settlement keeps along nearby mountain passes, potential mining sites, and hunting grounds that eventually developed into permanent settlements. While all of these settlements pale in comparison to Centauria in size, their establishment greatly expanded territory under Centaurian control, eventually encompassing most of the modern region of Blackrock. The 'Kingdom of Centauria' ruled by the nobles remained isolated, but prosperous for some time; however, at some point its existing institutions were replaced or entirely transformed, and Centauria and later the entirety of Blackrock fell under Korblox Administration control. How or why this transition occurred, and the circumstances surrounding it, remain unknown, are kept secret by the Korblox Administration, or remain simply lost to time.
Who rules it?
The Korblox Administration
The origins of the Korblox Administration and the circumstances of its rise to power in Blackrock are secretive and highly disputed. What is undisputed is that the Administration upended the traditional nobility's total control over aspects of Blackrock. The old noble families were not completely eliminated, however, and many retained considerable wealth and prosperity in the new political order, along with increased privileges and political influence.
The Central Administration, Blackrock's governing authority, sits at the heart of the current government. This body consists of senior technocrats and members of the nobility; together, they control almost every part of the region's governance. At the local level, appointed commissioners replaced noble families' direct control of wards and settlements. They carry out the Central Administration's instructions and oversee local production, infrastructure, security, and other administrative tasks. Appointed and managed directly by the Central Administration, commissioners answer solely to that body.
