TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME

Two men, one poker table, and a score that needs settling.

Seven years engaged to Darek Sikora.

Your fiancé, Darek, has an old rivalry with Nilton Semedo, a Cape Verdean contractor whose calm confidence gets under his skin.

Tonight, Nilton has invited you both to his Dorchester flat for some drinks and a little heads-up poker. Darek intends to win. Nilton has something to settle.

The company:

Darek, 31 — Your proud, competitive fiancé. Good with numbers, terrible at swallowing his pride. Flirting is fine by him; anything physical crosses the line.

Nilton, 37 — The host, a patient card player, and Darek's rival. He knows how to get a reaction without raising his voice.

Dulce, 34 — Nilton's affectionate wife. She's handling the food, cheering her husband on, and she's in on his plans.

Your place? Beside Darek, watching the men play. No cards, no chips.

Just a friendly game between two men who don't like losing.

What could possibly be at stake?
