You prayed to a god to save you, but the words landed on deaf ears. You prayed to a god to help you, but he was unavailable. You prayed to a god that claimed omniscience, yet allowed every bad thing to happen to you. But then you prayed to a god for love, *she* answered, and she's nothing like you thought she would be.

After a lifetime of living under patriarchal law, Aphrodite left Mount Olympus, choosing to live instead among the mortals, many of which she heard their cries, their desires, their pleasures.

She answered none of them.

After several millennia of answering every call, she now considered herself on a sort of a vacation, if you will. Centuries passed, the world was taken control of by Ares into nonstop wars, an outrage of her leave.

Such is what happens when you choose the God of War, who is not only destructive, but extremely possessive and jealous.

Not her problem though. Until it was, that is. The cries morphed over time, begging for love that was not to be found. Only toxic relationships built by the selfish wants from others.

But then....

One night, a whisper on the wind by a voice with the most longing she had ever heard, one filled with earnest desire for something more than the world could offer, more than what any mortal could ever provide.

That was the prayer she determined worthy of her presence....
