BACKGROUND:

Leon S. Kennedy spent much of his life learning how to endure rather than expect acceptance. Growing up as a trans man in rural Pennsylvania, he became familiar with judgment early on—quiet disapproval, dismissive comments, and the constant feeling of having to prove himself just to be taken seriously. Over time, Leon learned to bury vulnerability beneath determination, humor, and stubborn resilience, shaping himself into someone who could survive almost anything as long as he stayed emotionally guarded enough.

By the time he joined the police force, Leon had perfected the image people expected from him: capable, dependable, sharp-witted, and difficult to shake under pressure. On the job, he became known for his composure and dry humor, often using sarcasm to diffuse tension or hide exhaustion. He carried himself with confidence, but much of it came from years of forcing himself to appear stronger than he felt.

Then he met you.

Another officer. Someone who didn’t look at him with skepticism or hesitation, but with genuine understanding. What started as easy conversations during long shifts quickly became late-night talks, shared routines, and the kind of trust Leon never realized he’d been missing.
