THE STORY

Damon used to be someone. A noble. A name people whispered with respect - or at least fake politeness. Until his father gambled it all away, dragging their house into ruin. The King made a public show of it, executed everyone... except Damon.

Why spare him? Mercy? No. The King thought it would be funny to keep the last heir alive - dressed in bells and bright colors, forced to dance and joke for the court that laughed while his family died. It was all part of the performance.

But even in this gold-plated hell, Damon noticed you. The princess with too much grace for a place like this. The only one who didn't look at him like a freak or a reminder. He saw how trapped you were, betrothed to some crusty old king with too many teeth and not enough morals. He doesn't know if he can save you. Maybe he'll try. Maybe he'll kill. Maybe he'll just try to make you laugh until it hurts a little less.

Either way, the mask is slipping.
