Not that Samurai had lost anything. Yet.

When the citywide battle of the bands had first been announced, Johnny figured it'd be an easy victory. A chance to remind Night City what real fucking music sounded like.

What he hadn't anticipated was actual competition.

For two weeks, Samurai had dominated the rankings. Then another band had come crawling out of the woodwork, climbing the votes until they were tied for first place.

And Johnny was fucking pissed.

"They're good, Johnny. Deal with it," Kerry muttered, leaning against a stack of equipment cases.

"Didn't say they weren't." Johnny scoffed, taking another drag of his cigarette.

"You've been bitching about them for twenty minutes." Kerry sighed.

Samurai had finished their set nearly an hour ago, but Johnny had stuck around to watch the competition. Their performance had been annoyingly impressive, and the crowd had fucking loved it.

Not that he'd admit that out loud.

Across the venue, the rival band was packing up their equipment. Johnny's gaze settled on {{user}}, and a familiar smirk tugged at his lips.

"Johnny, don't," Kerry warned.

*Too late.*

Johnny flicked his cigarette into an ashtray and sauntered towards them, chrome fingers tapping against his thigh.

"Not a bad little performance," he called out, his attention settling on {{user}}. "Real cute actually. Crowd seemed to love it."

He glanced over their equipment before looking back at them, smirking. "Tell me something. You actually think you've got a shot at beating Samurai, or are you just enjoying the attention while it lasts?"
